Hi all,

Looking great!
When it comes to the sepia toning, feel free to tone it in black and white or add the sepia toning. Most of the photographs were, originally, black and white. For ones that are still desired in sepia tone, we can add that here, and even print them two versions to send back. But a great BW toning will go a long way overall!

Would it be wrong to put a hat on her?

Unclebro,
I think I got a photo of the same little girl. It's a tight crop, but might help give you a wee bit of an idea of what her hair should look like:

Just read through this thread and it's a wonderful idea! They may be caught up, but I did email Becky to request some photos to work on if they still have any that need assistance.

Great job everyone!

Still struggling, but making progress. Working from top down, isn't that what an artist does to keep paint off the arm. Injoying the discovery (a live lamb)surprized me. Have to add basket back in and work on blue dress.

I would just like to applaud this community for donating the time to such a worthwhile cause. I regret I haven't had the time to contribute, but I did want to take the opportunity to say GOOD JOB everybody!!! You guys ROCK!!!!

I need some help here. I have tried and I can't rebuild these legs and feet and make them look decent. Anyone else want to try at it? If you send me an email at fayepek@mcsi.net I'll send you the original.

Please and thank you :)

Faye

This is as far as I could get

I just finished my first restoration:

02/08/2006 05:40:39 PM · #243
A couple of nights ago a friend of ours told us that one of their neighbor̢۪s houses burnt to the ground.
Luckily no-one was in the house (although they were next door and got to watch the whole thing!).
But they lost everything, including their dog which ran back into the house for some reason :-(
Anyway, I told our friend that if they found any damaged photos that needed restoring, then to pass them on to me.
Apparently they may have recovered one picture that has smoke damage.
I have no idea how much damage, but doing this project for OPR made me think of it and where as I have little skill in the way of rebuilding or repairing other stuff, I feel fairly confident in my Photoshop abilities.

I just thought I̢۪d pass this story on and perhaps if any of you lot hear of similar disasters around your region, then you could perhaps offer your assistance.
And even if you aren̢۪t capable of doing the work yourself, I̢۪m sure that if you got the picture and scanned it, then there would be lots of willing DPCer̢۪s here just lining up to help.

I know it's something that I had never even thought of until a few days ago.

On this one, I've done so many different edits and versions, testing different things.

Here is original, plus 3 edits.

Skyarcher, I like the tone of #3 but the hair/head is the best in #4 (especially the area above the ear)

Good job. You've had a couple difficult ones to do!
