I am attempting to shoot teathered to a computer with my Canon 10D. It all works fine, but takes about 30 seconds to transfer the file. I can't take another image until the file is transfered... and here inlies the problem. Is there some way i can make use of the cameras buffer while shooting teathered, so that I don't have to wait for the computer to finish downloading before taking another image.

ok.. a little problem solving done... but not quite everything.
I can click the shutter and use the regular buffer and that works find. The camera downloads to the computer as slow as it wants and i take pictures until the buffer is full, as fast as I want.
HOWEVER.. if i want to press the shutter button on the COMPUTER, which I do (because the whole point of this is to try and have a 'cable release' by using my cordless mouse.)... it doesn't work. The computer won't let me click on the shutter button, until all the pictures are downlaoded.

Are you using the canon software to control the camera ?
May be worth looking at some of the remote control sw from breezesys.com though I think it also uses the same Canon SDK so you might be stuck with that behaviour.
You could always just use a cable release ?
Or if you really want to shoot faster, can I suggest a 1DMkII ;) |

well if you want to switch cameras for a month or two I'll gladly give the 1D mark II a spin.
I'll check out breezesys... .. i have been using the canon software so far. Yeah i could use a regular release, but i don't have one right now, and i want to take pictures now. :S
