I thought it would be cool to start a movie review thread, so we can see what the rest of us think about current movies in the theatres.

Ill start.

Anapolis= is a great movie, very heart warming, and exciting, kinda a cross between top gun and a few good men,

I was looking forward to Annapolis until I heard that the makers had a falling out with the Naval Academy and moved production to Philadelphia. Knowing that other movies were made in Annapolis (Patriot Games comes to mind) with the cooperation of the Navy, I question why they did that. The Navy is uaually very accomodating to filmakers.

Brokeback Mountain didn't live up to expectations. It's impact comes more from sensational subject matter than from being an outstanding movie. It's competent and poignant, and easily forgotten except for showing things not common before in mainstream flicks.

The remake of King Kong is excellent, truely bigger than life. It stays close to the original but adds to it. The special effects are superior but don't steal the show. Great entertainment for all ages. Serious students might want to see the 1933 original (a classic) and the 1976 De Laurentiis version (a big-budget flop) in order.

I just introduced my daughter and a friend to "Memento" last weekend. It was great to see them struggle with it and then have a million questions after it was over.

If you've never seen it, it's a must rent. A plot device that will leave you confused and forcing dozens of interpretations on the story line. Trust me. Watch it. Rated R for violence and language.

not sure how you can have 'great movie' and 'top gun' in the same line but there it is. Gives 'Brokeback Mtn' a run for its money in the gay buddy movie stakes though.

Munich was excellent. Hard to say 'enjoyable' but excellent.

King Kong was great - excellent pacing between frantic and calm.

Underworld Evolution - silly but fun. Kate Beckinsdale in black rubber, what more could you want.

Walk the Line - another great movie. Saw 'Ray' at the weekend, lot of similarities. Both good movies. Ray kinda dragged a bit though I felt.

"The New World" - very bad. I had to take my son to see it as part of a school project, and wound up covering my ears whenever the music played. Whoever wrote the music score should be pickled in brine.
