I think we should start a nice, healthy debate/disctussion concerning politics in general. I don't want to start a flame war or anything, but I'd be interested in hearing a lot of your views.

I'll try to get things started here.

I'll start with the US ideology of "spreading democracy."

Sure, the idea sounds like a noble pursuit and may sound good on paper. The problem is, with these regimes that we topple and then try to institute a new democratic government, it never truly can be democratic if our voice still dictates certain matters. For example, the US writes the new constitutions, and if an oppressive, "anti-
America" party rose to power through the very democratic means that we instituted, you can be sure that the US would do something about it - just like when the US invaved Vietnam to take the communist party out of power - who rose to power through a democratic election.

These countries can never truly be independent if we interfere and "oversee" all of their matters. They become mere satelite nations, just like those of the USSR.

Certainly the US has enough problems at home and shouldn't be going abroad trying to "police" the world.

Well, anyway, enough ranting, I'd just like to hear what you guys have to say. Feel free to speak your mind.

Ok, well if you want to debate something else then go right ahead. I was just trying to hopefully spark interest and get the thread going. I don't mean to limit this to that one topic alone.

Bump...No one has any views?
01/31/2006 12:10:35 AM · #10
This is when I agree to disagree on my view, meaning if I do agree it actually means that I intended to disagree to what we agreed the view should have been and so negate any agreement that we never had for the sake of disagreement on my intent to agree or disagree the point of view we do not see. Do I like agood rant...?

Personally, low fat margarine ... my dietician says it is better for me and of course i pay her so i have to believe her. it also speads so much easier than democracy. :)

Silly vocabulary;

United Nations.... where almost all nations get together to unite BUT no nation is really ever united with any of the other nations, it's all about "me" and my will and my power.

Freedom is a right.... BUT no right is absolute so make peace with the limited rights you are allowed to have.

Democracy... oppression by the masses, how do you want me to believe an individual in prison for rape/murder/robbery etc has the same value as a voter than any middel class responsible father working hard to provide for his kids and wife.

Racism.... no such thing, cultural ignorence leads to cultural intolorance, ignorence in general limits the frame of reference and keep the mind closed to never think but just accept anything that suits the threatened.

Justice.... where the human rights of a killer are worth more than the rights of the one he killed. Sorry, it is obvious that the dead has no rights, they are dead. Okay, where the rights of the traumatised/raped/molested child etc are less important, less regarded and less attended to than that of the perpetrator.

IMHO... ;-p=

Why are you so persistent? Do you really need politics discussed from a photographer's point of view?

(And if you really want to discuss the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act, you might try a website with librarians on it--but many of them have definitely tired of the topic since the answer has always been "no.")

Are there some dewy decimal provisions in the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. act that have been hushed up ?
