I have an edited photo that's 1200 x 1211 px.

At what max. size can I print this? Is there a way to enlarge the sizes in a smart way?

you could probably get an ok 8 x 10 if you upsize it up enough.

edit: maybe even bigger, but you're not going to get a BIG print.

you can get a nice looking print at 200dpi, you can get an ok print at 150dpi but yeah preferably over 240dpi is what you want.

oh but since it's almost square, i would print it at maybe 6 x 6 or 12 x 12 inches if you're doing it at dpcprints as they do square prints. I don't think there are any sizes in between though.

yeah I was just checking that out. I might adjust the size a bit :)

but I'm not sure if I'm gonna participate in DPCPrints, it all seems to be so complicated, especially the prices...

At 300 dpi you get a print 8.5cm/3.33 inches square. There is programme called Genuine Fractals that can upsize images by 400% with almost no loss.

It converts them to vector files, so the 'blockines' associated with upsizing bitmap images is reduced

the pricing is actually quite good at dpcprints. You can upload a printable image here in your profile. Then it should be able to be printed over at dpcprints after you log in there. The base price is how much it costs you to buy a print, if you want to sell the print you can set a price and half the profit goes to the site and half goes into your account balance.

ok.

but the thing is: I don't know what to ask for a print of one of my photos. I'm afraid I'll put the price too low or high, you see? I know it's my decision to make, but it really keeps me awake at night ;)

what's gonna happen with the money you earn? (what can I do with it?)

How big can it be printed? That depends on what the intended viewing distance is. You could put it on a 20-foot billboard if you wanted.

Yup, 'maximum' size is very subjective. The picture behind me in this photo is about 12ft wide, printed from an original that was 2000 pixels wide.
