Recently we've had some unfortunate incident with a member of DPC who had several photos in competitions disqualified Results of seven challenges recalculated
The offending individual happened to come from Romania. Several people have made nasty remarks about the country in a strangely ignorant and prejudiced way. Nothing bothers me as much as ignorant people and their ways...hmm if I continue in this angry way, someone will put this thread in rant!
Now, to make up for the hurtful things said about Romania, I invite anyone to post links to sites and links to photographs they've taken in Romania.

Please lighten up people, don't judge a whole country by one of it's nationals, that happened to make mistakes!

| The country and people are beautiful as is typical of all European cultures. To paint a whole country or culture with a tainted brush is wrong of course and I don't really think that was the intent of anyone... :) One comment though... what this individual did has been categorized as a number of mistakes. 1 + 1 = 3 is a mistake and something that can be corrected. What he did was wrong, mean spirited and totally premeditated and therefor not worthy of consideration... |

| I don't think that anybody judged the whole country or its inhabitants because of one person, but it would be nice when you make a statement about something or somebody to look for more info regarding the subjec. Anyway, thank you Gurry for this thread. |

| Unfortunately people are too quick to "paint everyone with the same broad brush strokes", Germans, Italians, Romanians, Military, Law Enforcement, Youth, etc. Alithenake was a cheat, and got what was coming to him, but that is no reason to cast dispersions on his country. |

You need only look at Cristi's work to find beauty in Romania. I have four pieces hanging in my gallery right now.

mquinn, that is hilarious. I have friends that have been there and say wonderful things about the people.
I believe that guy apologized which is great. It is amazing that he did it so many times. Cheating to get ahead is one thing (certainly not appropriate). But to do it many many times signifying ill intent is just sad and malicious. Hopefully if he is allowed back, or if he comes back he moves on and learns.
One thing is for sure: Romania is just one place of thousands that I would love to visit and appreciate first hand.
