I have setup a DPCphoto Guestmap on DPCstats homepage. Lets see how much of the earth we can fill with pictures. Feel free to post any of your DPChallenge pictures by clicking on the guestmap button on the DPCstats home page. It will pop up a new window with a world map, like Goggle. Zoom in to the location you took your picture and click to insert a marker. Put your Username, Title of picture, and a link to your photograph. Then click on a marker of your choice. Please donĂ¢€™t use the dark blue, red, or yellow markers unless it is a ribbon-winning photograph you are posting.
This should be fun and I hope a lot of users participate. I have started by posting one of my pictures. It is neat to see where the picture was taken. And it should be interesting to see how far users travel to take pictures. From around there home to around the world.

NOTE: How to link photograph
Go to the photograph you wish to link from your profile and copy the address in your browser window and paste it in the link section of your marker.

What if where we took a picture at a place that is not on the map? I can find the Galapagos islands (I think), but there are numerous other islands in that area that I don't see

Go to the general area and zoom in as far as possible and it should show up. If not place your marker where the islands should be.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find them. Posted two in the Montreal region
Edit: I tried and they say they don't have maps for this region yet :(

They didn't have maps for my area either but I kept zooming until I could recognise the coastal features. |

What a great idea.
Should we do more than one, if applicable, or do you want it to be one marker per person? |

| Whoops. Once I zoomed far enough I realized that I'd set El Capitan right in the middle of the yard of a dairy outside Tracy, CA. Sorry. |

| He! This is fun, I was able to pinpoint the exact place (within a few meters) where I was standing when I took the photo. |

If anyone misplaces there marker let me know by PM and I will delete it and you can replace it in the right location. Try to zoom in all the way and put your marker where you were standing when you took the picture.
This is fun. It's like traveling the world by looking at the photographs plus it opens your picture up for more views and possible comments.
Thanks everyone

EDIT: you can move around the map by left clicking the mouse and holding down while moving the mouse.

| That was fun. I put a few pictures on the map, both around my home state of Utah and even a couple down in Brazil. |

I added one, looks like it's in the ocean, guess I didn't zoom in enough to place it on land. Oops.

I just imported it into Google Earth. Some of my locations are spot on! (Empire State, CN Tower) But some are quite far off, hehe (Bristol Docklands, Niagara Falls)

Just remember to zoom in all the way before you insert your marker. It will place them almost spot on. Also when viewing zoom in about half way because some markers are behind others.
At last check we had around 120 markers (pictures) posted so far.
Great Job everyone!

That's pretty cool... I could have fun with this.
For challenge entries alone, I've entered photographs taken in nine states and the District of Columbia. That doesn't count non-challenge stuff.
