I just received an email stating that Pinupinoo has shut down.

I tried them out for about 8 months and removed my photos when sales weren't coming in. All mt exclusive images from Pinupinoo are now Awaiting QC at Alamy. :-)

Will more stock photos site die as competition get rougher?

With all the big established stock companies why would anyone take a chance on some of the startups especially those in countries that do not have as strong a copyright or business laws. Not trying to hurt anyone or make anyone mad but new companies popping up in places like Hungary, South Korea, Russia, etc etc may not be the best way to go. At least Stock companies in the US, Germany, England, Australia you have a formal way to make a complaint to the BBB or even press in their home towns. How much do you think the owners of Pinupinoo got for selling their stock to someone else before closing the door ;)

FYI, it was a UK based company. As to why would anyone take the risk with a starting agency - is it better to be a big fish in a small pond, where the marketing effort is less diluted, or be part of a huge agency with a million+ images and no interest in selling your particular images over any one elses ?

There are plenty of different options out there.
