Congratulations--it's fun and a little scary, isn't it?

WTG!!! Congrats! Have fun & enjoy it - and invite everyone you know to the opening. I know that I send out postcards highlighting my work on the front (that I design & print myself) to advertise my shows to friends, family, and my past & potential client list. It's money very well spent IMHO. Good luck!!!

Congratulations, Gayle!

If you need any help there are plenty of people here at DPC than can give you advice on preparing for your showing.

I just finished my first one man gallery showing myself. I was "featured" artist. ;)

I selected images I thought best for that specific venue. They were all color nature shots even though I like B&W best for fine art.

The cool thing was that I got a couple good sales out of it. Most don't, as I understand. The down side is that I spent about $1,000 in framing, printing(I do my own printing) and reception costs. Three more sales and I pay for it. LOL! But I still have plenty inventory left over for future showings. :) Overall it was fun for me.

If you need any assitance framing or showing just ask for advice. You got plenty of time but it is best to get started early.

Hey I see you are in Mesa. Did you Happen to show your work at the first Fri. Art walk downtown? I have a friend that owns a gallery and any advice best ways to present your pieces would be great. His studio is studeo-tad off of fillmore on the art walk and he wants me to get some of my pics ready to show and sell. Thanks.

My showing was at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum which is up near Superior, AZ.

I have heard about the galleries downtown in the "gallery" district but have never been there. I have heard good things and want to go. Would you like to show me?

Of course, I've been to Scottsdale, the Beverly hills of PHX, and all the upity "art" places there. My feeling is that any decent DPCer can create images competative with those places. I know what I did for Boyce is as good, by local standards, as anything there is there and this is the 5th largest metro area in the USA. :)

Unfortunatly I am in Iraq right now or I would invite you to meet us at my buddies studio. The art-walk is this weekend though and I can send you a flier of the studios. I am trying to get like 10 pics ready for next month to show in his studio.

Joshua, would like to visit with you when you return.

Think I will try to visit the art walk downtown this weekend. You got details for dates and times? It would be fun for me to meet your friend that has a gallery there and ironic that I would get the info for it from Iran. LOL!

If there is any advice you may want please feel free to ask. I'd be happy to help.

Be safe!

PM me with an email address and I will send you the flier. If you go definately say hi to Heather and Tad at their studio. As far as advice goes...I was thinking about doing some like 20x30 prints and also having some printed on canvas and stretched, but probably without frames. I don't know, but without frames it's still gonna cost me like $60-80 per.

Hey Steve,

I don't think I can attach a file to a pm message. I wanted you to pm me with your email address so I could attach the flier to an email.

Congrats; you should show your stuff; you have a great deal of clarity of purpose to your shots, and particularly your landscapes, they are quite selective, and selectively austere, with common themes of big sky spaces and leading lines;

good luck, or rather, break a leg(lens?)
