If anybody is interested in seeing the bottle-nosed whale being rescued from the Thames then go here, at the top of a page is a link to the live video;

//news.bbc.co.uk/

It's on a barge at the moment, they think they'll be able to release it into the open sea at 21:00, but they're not too sure about its health.

I watch nature shows all the time. Why is it when a lion get's bit by a snake they let it die so as to not "interfere with nature" but when a whale washes up on shore we all band together to make sure it's as safe as possible?

You must have never smelled a dead rotting whale. Not to mention that they can bloat up with gases and explode. It'd stench up the whole of London.

If it fights it out on it's own and survives then great! If not then I say it's Luau time!

I've just driven up from London today and was tempted to try and get a shot of this for the wildlife challenge but decided my lens wasn't up to it. I wonder if we will see it there from one of the London crew of DPC???

Hoping it will eventually manage to be released and take its chances in the open sea.

Definitely Free Wally!

I doubt they can bloat up and explode, but you can always load them up with dynamite and make them explode anyway.
Notorious exploding whale video right here
it's actually quite funny

another bit of whale trivia:
what type of whale tends to get lost most often and wash ashore?

...

pilot whale! no, I'm not joking. at least it's true up here.

Well it looks as though the whale never made it out.

"An 18ft whale that became stranded in the River Thames dies after a massive rescue attempt." from the BBC

It's a shame but i think thats why it went up river :(

Im in Italy and have been watching a british news feed. The whale died, but they are not sure that he was sick before going upriver. Could have been humans making sonar noise in the water that confused him, for instance.

Hey if he's dead put him to good use, better than just letting 'em rot.
