if a picture will be subject to DQ because EXIF is missing? To elaborate...when I use the demo version of Neat Image the data disappears after saving. I still have my original RAW and converted Tiff versions.
Answers one way or another appreciated.

| As long as you have the original, with unmodified EXIF, you should be okay. |

If asked to verify, you will need to provide the original, unaltered RAW file. As long as you still have that, you're in high clover.

| Hmmm, I'd think that pretty much every submitted image would have EXIF data missing, if only from the resize operation? I doubt anyone actually shoots their images at 320x640 in-camera. :) |

When you have to submit for validation, you send the ORIGINAL, unaltered, unedited, un saved over photo.
So when you are editing/preparing your photos, always, ALWAYS, work on a copy and don't touch the original :-) |

| Strange when I do any resizing or editing in G-thumb or Gimp the exif data aways carries to the new file. |

EXIF data carries over in all popular editing programs; it just also shows a "date modified" and this invalidates the modified copy as an "original". The only time you lose EXIF (as far as I know) is when you use a save-for-web feature, where the EXIF is stripped to decrease the filesize.

| In Photoshop (older versions, anyway), you can discard the EXIF (and File Info) data by using Save a Copy and checking the box to "Exclude Non-Image Data." |
