Troy - you came into a post about how wonderful Manny is, said "maybe it's the area" didn't have anything to back that up and you wanted us to let it ride with a free pass? Life doesn't work that way - if you have an opinion - back it up. I posted the images because I think Manny's entire point in shooting Pedro like that at that location was to say "I could do this with your typical western subject just the same."

Anyways - if you want it to die off, I'm sure it will - but you can't say "oh it's location" and expect that's going to ride. Express a contrary opinion to popular belief and yes, popular belief will defend itself.

Now Troy, you weren't attacked for voicing an opinion... you witnessed disbelief of an opinion that didn't make any sense. You suggested that Manny's photography was due to the exotic location, but you apparently haven't looked at his portfolio (you even quoted a link that included photos from MANY locations). The shots Mavrik linked could have been taken in your neighborhood. Put another way, I don't think I could match Manny if I went to Nepal.

You are all correct, i did not take the time to look at mannys profile, heck i didnt even know he was on dpc, and again, you are right he is an amazing photographer and would love some day to be at the level he is, and location is not a factor in photography. maybe in mine becase i havent yet aquired the soughten eye.

Don't you love farce?
My fault I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want.
Sorry, my dear.
But where are the clones?
Quick, send in the clones.
Don't bother, they're here.

I only see this thread today when I was looking at Gary's portfolio (kiwiness) coz I am thinking of paying tribute to him for the next challenge (Tribute). Thank you, thank you, thank you. ÃŽ agree with everything that has been said. I might be my location. Might be my patience. Might be my hard work. I learned a lot from you guys, believe me. Every comment of every picture I entered in the challenges is well received (though I must admit that sometimes, it does demotivate me).

2006 is a new beginning. I have to look at my photography from a different perspective? I have to be more than just a hobbyist. So far, so good.

July...I will have an exhibit in a galleryin the Philippines. A lot of offers for workshops also came (which I declined because I feel I don't have the technical expertise yet...maybe I can strat off with a small one). I wish I can get commission works. I had never shoot yet for a fee.

Digital Photo mag (UK) contacted me again to feature some of my portrait shots in their coming issue. Anyway who can help me realize my goal, my gratitude to you. Thanks "hokie" for starting this thread.

Manny, are you interested in stock photography? If you are Corbis application is here Went on a search but it looks like NG get most of their images either from their own photogs or from stock images.

Well Manny, if I ever get back home to the Philippines, I certainly hope that it's in July so that I can see the exhibit. I love your vision/photography, and your photos were truly the photos that inspired me to register here on dpc and to pick up photography.

Best wishes on all your photographic endevours!!! I hope NG comes knocking on your door soon.

Not fair, this was shot at the Librodo/Philos GTG last year in Bangkok, so this is Manny's light, I just pressed the button.
