Just wanted to let fellow DPCers know that we're selling our D70 on ebay.
We're bundling the body and kit lens (plus accessories) with a 70-300mm zoom lens. All items are in good condition.
Click here to see the auction
Thanks for looking,
Kavita

Well, to cut a long story shortish - when we (husband and I) originally decided to buy a DSLR we couldn't decide between Canon and Nikon. It was a tough choice but we preferred the feel of the D70 in our hands to the 10D and 300D (the Canon models available at the time) and the price made sense compared to the 10D price. We bought the D70 and were really happy with it but we found the autofocus a little slow to respond when using the zoom lens - wouldn't be a big deal for most people but since my main interest is wildlife photography it was a definite issue. Even then, were considering sticking with Nikon and it's produced some great results for us. When it came time to buy a second DSLR (since husband was getting more and more into photography and sharing was no longer an option) we sat down and thought about it again. Since there were a number of advantages we'd identified to having a Canon we were really unsure. Since the D70 had already paid for itself twice over (I calculated how much I would have spent on film/ processing had I taken my film SLR on a couple of trips) we decided to buy a Canon 20D as our second DSLR so we could truly and properly compare the two and decide which manufacturer to stick with long term. We decided on Canon.
Since money is now tight and we haven't got any trips for the two of us planned for a while, we figured we'd be best off selling the D70 now and saving for a second Canon at a later date, perhaps next year.
Ridiculously enough, I'm kind of sad about selling the D70 even though it makes sense as I do really enjoy using it so... who knows if we're making the right decision?

I have an idea. Sell them both and upgrade to a D-200! LOL!
I would consider bidding on this but the price is in some weird denomination called pounds.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the bumps folks!
JB I was quite surprised to receive bids from as far afield as Spain and Canada - I'd imagine postage wouldn't be cheap!!
It's met it's reserve already within 24 hours so I'm hopeful we'll get a really good price for it by the end of the auction.

Well, we got more than we imagined for it given it was 2 years old!
We posted it today after payment from the buyer cleared.
We got £670 for it plus postage and packing (which JUST covered the postage cost, no profit in that bit like some people do).
W00T!

Isn't the D50 better?
Edit: Ok never mind, I actually did a little research and the D70 is better.

| There are precious few advantages to the D50 and some distinct disadvantages! The D50 has somewhat lower noise and a larger lcd display. But you give up DOF preview, manual white balance, a metal frame, and Compact Flash memory cards, to name a few. I'd stick with the D70 and it's updated firmware. |
