Similar to the admin anouncments, could the posts for the user that is logged on be highlighted somehow (maybe a light greay or something just on your own reply). I find me looking through the thread to find where I last commented so I can pick up the dicussion. Something better to show the last post in the thread would be better but I can see that been a royal pain. |

You can place the thread on watch... and then when you click on that button, it will be right there

I mean more than just saving the thread on a watch list - I am trying to get at something that shows where you last read on any thread. |

Are you looking for something like the "Last Forum Threads Posted To" section of each users' "My Profile" |

What he wants to do (if I'm correct) is when opening a thread he's replied to being able to see exactly where on the page his last post is. That way he doesn't end up rereading lots of posts or having to stop and look at everything. Kind of like showing only what has been knew since the last time he looked at it. |

Right. I totally understand this. On fast-moving threads I waste a LOT of time trying to pick up where I left off.

Rob, I think that is a wonderful idea, but I'd like to take it a step further.
I'd like to see the post marked that was last when I closed that thread, regardless of whose post it was.
That way I can see what has been added since last time I looked at it even if I hadn't posted to it myself. |

Sorry - This one dropped off my list :-))
Yeah, Nathan & Bear have what I was trying to say - even if I didn't say it very well. As Beetle indicates, it might be useful to take it further but I am more interested in the posts where I am posting and trying to figure out the last place I was at in the thread and the last position thing is more complex.
Eug, I find that limiting because it's only got a few in the list but it does help getting to the post initially. It does NOT help within the post and some of these can be pretty long.
I suggested highlighting the users own posts cause I think it's pretty easy to code that way and would save a lot of time trying to figure out where you are but automatically positioning on the last point I read within each post would be fine.
Edit: some grammatical errors (more still there no doubt)..
