Yesterday was mine.
1. I got turned down by the OC Sheriffs dept after 1 month of preparing my background packet.
2. I put 1.00 in the wrong dryer at the laundrymat.rrr
3. Then what i thought would be a nice evening shooting drove 20 min to the nearest wild life refuge, and turn on my camera to find out i left my flash card in my computer. RRRRR
What a day yesterday was, i hope thats the worst day of the year.
what about the rest of you.

Take those frowns and turn them around! Try to look at the positives and don't dwell on the negatives. I know it's easier said than done, but reframing can work wonders.
It really sucks to not get the job you wanted, but maybe it's some sort of "divine intervention" and it wasn't meant to be for some reason. Maybe even saved your life, which is good.
You were a good samaritan and paid for someone else's clothes to dry. That is a good thing.
You learned a lesson about checking for your CF card before leaving the house. A day where you learn something new is always good.
Yeah, I'm an eternal optimist. :) |

| I'm happy. Bad days don't occur very often. Maybe 5 times a year is average, but rebound is easy because there is so much love out there. If you can feel the love, how is it not possible not to smile and glow? |

Well, when I think I'm having a bad day, I just think about how much worse it could have been.
I think you can get some good out of all the things that happened.
1. If you are determined to be a deputy, did you ask them where they thought you were lacking. That would give you some insight into where you need to improve. There are other counties sherriff departments where you can apply as well. Also other agencies.
2. You only lost $1 at least it wasn't $5
3. Well, I guess the lesson here is to check your gear before you need it. (I have learned this one countless times myself. Luckily the lesson has never come in a time of dire need)

Yes you are right it wont happen again, I think its because i just got new computer for chriistmass and it has the card reader built in, and usually i would just use the cable, so im not used to gettting out the card from the computer.

Yesterday, I found out that I lost about 400 images. My abandoned hospital series, which I moved to DVD. Unfortunately, Nothing can read it. And, for some reason, only some of the images were still in my recyle bin.
A good thing is that I can reshoot a lot of them since the building is still there. The lighting is different and I may not recognize the shots I had but I'll just have to make new ones. Another good thing, I've done 5 shoots there and only lost 2 - 2 of the others were previously put on CD.
I now can't get the DVD player to finish writing a disc at all which means all the images I edited for Alamy have to sit until I figure it out.
And my backlighting shots were crap so I had nothing to enter.
So glad yesterday is over. :) |

Hmmm... not precisely a bad day, but let's shoot for this past week or so, working backwards.
Today - hubby finds out that his driving partner didn't turn in all the paperwork and he may not get paid what he is owed until the paperwork gets in. They can't get a hold of the driving partner 'cause his phone's turned off, so thay have to drive 2 hours to his house and hope he's home. And did I mention all the monthly bills are due in the next 7 days?
Last night - gallbladder attack. Really should have that removed, but no $$ and no insurance.
Two days ago - brother-in-law moved from critical care to regular room in hospital. He was put in critical care b/c when he got off the plane from Las Vegas his sugar had crashed (diabetic) and he didn't know who he was or recognize his parents.
Six days ago - found out my mother's cancer has spread to her lymph nodes and she is terminal. They give her about 4 weeks.
And that, folks, is just the really bad stuff. Plenty of other little things going on...
But, like Laurie said, ya gotta look on the bright side of things. My brother-in-law is being taken care of and has disability and Medicare. The gallbladder thing I can deal with - it hurts, but it's not yet to a critical point. The paycheck will be taken care of, and it's not like we've never been late on a bill before! :)
It's harder to find the bright side with Mom, but I look at it like this: she's been given time to say goodbye, which is more than a lot of people get. They've been able to go ahead and make funeral arrangments, set her affairs in order, and a lot of other things that would have fallen to a grief-stricken family had she been killed in an accident (or somesuch). We all have time to make amends, voice our regrets, and settle any family problems before she is gone. They've opted not to try any 'life-extending' surgeries and treatments, and I say all to the good - there is no guarantee that they would work (even the surgeons told her that), most would cause her considerable pain, and some would not be covered under her insurance. She will be comfortable to the end.
So, not a good situation, but not as bad as it could be, either. Life goes on - you either deal with it or you don't. |

I do this intentionally. That way when people walk back in they think they have a lot more time when actually their clothes are shrinking because of the heat. :D Yes I'm an asshole and proud of it. :D |
