have they invented a decent way to get photos from a cam (or card) into the ipod without it taking forever?

the ipod camera connector is a flat-out joke. i bought the ipod to use as portable drive space on shoots and it's completely unusable for it.

i still love it, though. i'm a sucker.

I'll happily take money from either, or anyone else who cares to pay me actually. I worked in the same building as the PPC design team for Motorola/Freescale for 5 years though, so I have a good understanding of those issues.

Gotcha. Just didn't know whether you were an AMD employee.

Nope. consultant these days. My loyalty is freely (well not freely) available to the highest bidder.

But it isn't any secret that Intel have been trying to catch up with hypertransport for a while and that the CSI protocol was supposed to do it.

The fact that they dropped it from the roadmap back in October doesn't bode well for what they are going to do in the short term.

CSI is still on the roadmap, just pushed back to 2008. I wouldn't be surprised to see it show up in 2007, though.

Bummer that was an interest for my possible purchase

Yes, actually there was an article on The Register about it for 2008. Apparently, the CSI concepts are fine. But apparently Intel India screwed up the implementation royally...(another way of saying they tried to outsource it to India with more than unsatisfactory results).

Which falls in line with recent experiences the company I work for had. Our outsourcing did not go so well either. (Not to say anything against India or Indians, as my company is owned by an Indian gentleman and most of our networking division are Indian. It's just that outsourcing poses many communication and time problems. And often you don't discover something was done wrong until it's too late.)

Well, I often tout the usefulness of the Belkin card reader on this site, so I suppose I shall jump to its defense.

Although it is slow, I find it most useful in tandem with other cards so I may continue shooting while it is downloading. This is sufficient enough for me as it take me much longer to fill u a card than it takes to download.
