I love black and white. I like selective desat if used for a reason such as creating impact. Both of these will score for me. I didn't use either - didn't have the 'right' image for that.

Funny though, I just got accepted into a juried art show. The image they accepted was selective desat to create impact in the image and it would have worked for burst of color. Talk about timing... :)

Selective "desat"? Are you saying you are taking color away from the background, as in making something stand out by having it color and background b/w? Hmmm. I wonder how many will do that.

I have not the words anymore....

Sweetheart, isn't this what YOU said a little while ago? Maybe you should have remained with NO WORDS. Now whose mind is changing and forgetting? Don't answer that. It's rhetorical.

Rose

It would seem that I have found them.

I got no popcorn smiley here, but am passing the Prozac over to ya....you really need to chill and relax a bit

Oh, I'm just fine. :) Don't worry about me. Just watch your clock so your not late.

SPAZ, Shutterpug is passing out prozac. Maybe you could use one or ten. If you think I am so irrational and inconsistant, then you would't be watching my posts. And by what you said, I am not irrational at all. You have just admitted that you post only to see what is said next. That is causing aggravation where there was none to begin with. The only reason you are on this thread at all I imagine. Now just when is it that you will "have no words?"

You can close this thread up with your rudeness, Spaz. I am moving to other threads with more "intelligent" posters, and dear, you are NOT one of them.

See ya!

Rose, why is it everytime I see you in one of these forums, your either calling folks names, insulting them, or involved in some form of discontent or strife? Are you really this unhappy here? And if so, why stay?

Allrighty :) More chances for the rest of us.

It's a pity though that you're not entering anything, your pictures are so beautiful, and many of them "burst" with colour, especially a lot of your macros.

I'm really looking forward to this one - it's been a while since I entered a challenge with a thoroughly planned out image ahead of time. We'll see if a little forethought helps my score. My last minute habits (i.e., Mother < 4.8) have just got to stop! ROFL =D

Yea I've been looking around the last couple of days thinking this challenge was presented at exactly the WRONG time. We recently had snow and then directly after freezing rain so it took forever to melt. Finally this week it has but now everything is brown and dirty and dead.

I don't suppose muddy brown would do very well in a "burst of color challenge. I still have 20 minutes, maybe I should whip up an entry!

Definately no color here either and I have to agree it is the wrong time of year for this... which prompted me to build my first lightbox tonight and tomorrow I am going out to get backgrounds for it.

Put a bright accent in the mud, maybe a flower, or an apple, or a colourful scarf :)

How did you build your lightbox?

Ursula .. do not glue the stuff together ... I found that I can flatten and store anywhere if I do not glue the joints!!!

I really wanted to try and recreate this shot with multiple flavors (colors) of jello but could never wrap my head around how to get the different types of jello into a balloon.

Yep, you're right, thank you! Plus then you can make it up at different sizes. Got the frame pieces made and put together, it was easy, but I need to get some lights - I have a shop light, but it's clunky and very hot.

May I make a suggestion? Maybe you could have widened the opening a bit. On some balloons they are pretty wide. Then you could poor in one color while it is still warm, but not hot. Or even cool, depending on what kind you use, and prop it up in a bowl hung by a string in your fridge and wait for that to set up. Then do it again with another color, then another, etc, till filled. I think that may have worked.

I thought of that but the problem is there wouldn't be enough pressure to inflate the balloon (like a faucet would).

Maybe you could get one of those things bakers use to put icing on a cake? (dont know the name of it) and squeeze in the jello?
