I still haven't decided how to vote on this one yet. I need to drink it in, to see if I'm missing some angles on other interpretations. |
I hear you!
I had a very pretty nighttime shot of the city skyline, and I had one with fireworks. In both cases I decided it would be very suitable for a challenge called "city" or "cityscape", not for something called "city LIFE". I didn't enter because of that, but then found that the challenge is full of those types of shots.
I had hoped for people to put much more thought into this, not just enter a simple shot of some buildings or roads. |

i put thought into it and i've got a 4.6 :)
i like the skyline shots, but it doesn't say "city life" to me, it simply says "city". but i'm getting some comments about how it doesn't fit "city", so it's just...whateva!

For my 2 cents..I agree altho the cityscapes are gorgeous, I do not think they depict "city life"...But I think fireworks DO.
Mine is either, and proud to say definately, meets the challenge
Will we ever tire of the DNMC conversations!!? lol |

I didn't enter this one, but just gave out a bunch of 10's. If you got one from me, you got a comment saying so.
I think all the pictures depict city life myself. I didn't see one that was not within the challenge rights of submission.

Seems doubtful. There are cases where pics are obviously entered without regard to the challenge description - usually only a couple per challenge. I marvel at the threads complaining about the majority of challenge entries not meeting the challenge...seems to suggest that perhaps the people complaining have improperly interpreted the challenge. Or it at least seems to support the notion that there is more than one viable interpretation.
Regardless, the spirit of the site lives on if each person votes all of the entries consistently in view of whatever criteria they choose. |

Well, I honestly don't know why my photo of carpet samples isn't fairing better.
edit: They look like sky-scrapers, carpet is used in many cities and is an improvement to peoples' lives in those cities.

Maybe there would be bonus points if a child or pet appeared with the carpet? |

Thank you for sharing your over opinionated views on what is and isn't city life. You have just encouraged me to go vote everything a 1 because of crappy opinions like those.
Whatever happens in a city IS city life. A skyline to a homeless person or even a sewer can be construde as city life and by degrating a type of photos you people are encouraging pour voting habits and placing your opinion where someone might not have made their own mind up on how to vote.

Are you saying I've biased the voters against photos of carpet samples?
