damn it, I really thought I had a great entry in this challenge, but again I'm at 5.something.

I think I quit.

That's what I get for thinking out of the box. I won't make that mistake twice.

That's what I say every time... and yet I continue to step outside the box... I've learned to appreciate the precious few who do understand the image and move on. If one person can "get it", that's good enough for me.

Oh, and btw...

An "average" score for my not-so-average entry! ;-)

The nikon might be too much camera for you.

I do have you can upgrade to, I think it might put that [willies]canon[/willies] to shame. :p

I just got upset because someone was trying to be out rightly mean. They sarcastically said how much they loved my image and then told me they were giving me a one for how much they liked it. I have always been honest and if anything I said might even slightly be percieved as mean I apologized for it in advance when I make the comment. It is not my intention to hurt people when I make a comment or vote. I don't think it's right for others to go out of there way to insult me or my image how is that in any way supossed to be helpful?

As for thinking out of the box, I guess, eventually, someone will get my images and that'll be the person the image was for.

Thanks for the boost of confidence though.

Ok so this was a big failure, hopefully it'll pull up a little, other wise im going to be going from my highest scoring photo to my lowest in a week. I think My shot was a little to personal to me and people arent getting it... oh well. better luck next time around i guess

I did get one nice comment and besides being nice, it was constructive and brought to my attention something I hadn't noticed. Those are the comments I prefer to get...tell me what you like, what can be improved, etc...How difficult can that be???

I'm staying silent for the rest of the challenge on my scores. LOL....Thinking along the lines of the "jinx syndrome" of posting scores, I don't want to jinx my current scores and keep it as is and hope it goes up even further! :)

My Update Button addiction got the best of me... I hadn't entered anything since mid-December, so threw one in at the last minute for this one. One day I'll learn! (Of course, this is curing me of my addiction - I don't want to click it any more!) LOL

Technically perfect, visually captivating, thought provoking image. I would give a 10. Alas, falling victim to glance and vote inside-the-box voting. When will I learn? :-)

Edit: I thought people might be able to guess mine... I guess my "style" is still in it's infancy and not widely recognized yet. When I get rich and famous, you'll all be sorry! ;-P

Don't get to depressed. Mine isn't doing so well either. I received a couple comments stating that my picture was to depressing to score high. Haven't received any remarks toward the technical side of the photo. Invoking one's emotions to the opposite of feeling motherly love was my goal so I would still say the photo was a success besides the score being low. :)

I don't vote on challenges that I enter, but I must say that one of the ideas I had for an entry was very depressing. Ultimately I decided against using it, but I think it was a great idea for a shot. I personally don't think you should be voted down for depressing subject matter as long as it's technically sound. Some of the best images are of those of somber subjects. I think most would agree with this and I wouldn't worry much about that comment. It's probably an isolated opinion.

Question for you guys (being brand new at this and all), is there a way to respond to comments left during the voting or do we do that after voting is over?

There are a couple comments I'd like to clarify/add to w/ my submission - which is at somewhere around 4.8. Not awful for a first timer I guess?

This is the first time my comments reflect a love it or hate it attitude. It will be an interesting week! I think I may have gone to far out of the box to please the masses this time around. Good luck all:-)

01/02/2006 05:49:57 PM · #47
I'm fine with that, but I guess my question was not quite clear either - I mean is there a WAY to put a comment in there during voting or not?

I noticed that some people's shots had comments from the shooter themselves and I wasn't sure if those were posted during voting or afterwards.

My only wish is that if 95 people feel my shot is worth less than a 4 (well avg anyway) i would kinda hope more than 1 person would tell me why. My guess like i said earlier is it's too personal too me and isnt being widely accepted, but im not sure if thats it or if im having technical issues too.
