Ok, it's not done - nitpicking not (yet) required - but I wanted to put it up to test it and I figured while it was up I could show everyone. :)

1) I know it goes quickly through some of the shows - that's on purpose and I like it. :)

2) I would actually like to know how the images look - if I could compress them more, etc - and how quickly it loads for you. :)

Thanks for looking!

it loads super quick, which is nice for a change.. and the pictures... well, I only wish I was so good. I wish when I had gotten married that I could have had a photographer to capture moments like shown here. The slide show is a lil too fast.. I would slow that down if you could though. That way someone could see the pictures a bit better. (just my opinion and what I would like to see)

Also whenever I click on the links, it takes me to an internet search engine.

Can't really tell you how the images look. They flash past too quick to really take them in. IF you like that sort of very fast slide show, I think it needs to be about another 5 minutes longer, though the music and tempo feel really off for a wedding theme

The speed of the photos kind of made me feel like I was having a seizure - but as long as you like them... :P

The text on your buttons is weird, looks like different fonts. And I'd suggest installing some sort of blog software on your site if you really want one - xanga seems so angsty teenage girl to me.

nitpicking)the font on specialed settings looks funny matt

also loading is popping up over the top of coming soon - might want to stop that until you have the flash galleries up and running.

1) did i miss the penis shot?
2)its still a little slow but thats them damn kids! Nothing is loading for featured wedding except the counter

you dialing up mes?

nice photos thats for sure. I would say it was a tad slow on my mac firefox using broadband. I know you said dont mention the speed of photos - but for me they are far too fast. For me music on the net is a no no.

Good that you are running the html version for the spiders to pick up. There may be a problem having the flash version on the first page though. I could mean harder for the google spiders to get through - losing your ranking in the search.

you know i'm not :p
but you see nothing loaded, the frame didnt load with the loading... thing i got nothing but a greygreen background and the counter for that page. Where as the other pages i always get the flash box and wait for the video to load.
12/30/2005 01:07:58 PM · #12
I'll have to check that one - I've tried dumping cache and reloading the page but it still comes up fairly quickly for me.

Anyone else having trouble with the links?
12/30/2005 01:08:25 PM · #13
that said, the music selection and speed of the feat gallery is much stronger than the fast thing of the main gallery - but you already know my opinion on that (fight club?)

But I like nitpicking :p

Doh you took it down before I could even see it lol

OK I have seen a lot of it already so I will still tell you what i think since everyone else is mentioning the speed of the photos. Maybe I have good eye sight or something but I can see the photos all fine. Its an introduction section anyway, its supposed to give opeople a very quick glimps of what you are about.

If they like what they see and what more detail and want things slower they will then go into the actual site and look for your other galleries and things.

I really do think that this is some of your finest work. :)

You just scared the daylights out of me!! Thought something had really happened to the site. Brat!

Okay, either I'm not remembering the other day very well, or you slowed down the 'formals' slideshow. I like it! :-)

Love how the pictures move with the mouse. That is too cool.

I didn't have any slowdowns with anything loading, I did notice though that on the link for the blog, the image 'Blog' keeps disappearing. Think we're heading back into the twilight zone. ;-)

Site is looking very nice and the images are beautiful.

If you can see the flash site, you're seeing a cached image - it's gone - totally gone.

Alright - give me the new beef...

(I am almost scared to ask!)

The site is done once again - //www.pictureinfinity.com

Following the good advice in this thread and other places, I started over from scratch. I blew it up! (literally deleted the entire folder I had been working with off my computer and started over).
-------------------
1) The blog has been changed (thx mk) to //blog.pictureinfinity.com using WordPress and no longer my teen-angst xanga.com site.

2) The blue-green layout is gone. White, black, blue. Very clean.

3) The portraits side does not work yet - I know this. :)

4) Whole site only uses two fonts - Kristen ITC for "fun" stuff and Trajan Pro for the business and serious stuff.

5) There are no preloaders yet - but there will be. If you're on dialup, pleeeeeeeease don't tell me the flash site takes too long to load. :) I know - I linked the dialup site for that. lol

6) No more super-fast galleries. I broke it up into three galleries and no more loading/reloading of the main page. The main page is 450kb (way small for flash) and each gallery is also about 500kb. They load into the main flash. :)

If anyone sees stuff we may have missed or has their opinion on the site other than these few things, I would (again) love to hear it. Even if it ain't great.

And thanks to everyone who responded here the first time - you were right. That site needed to be deleted.

Thanks! *braces*

Man, I felt bad before when you were bummed about the bad reception of your first site but seeing this one, it was definitely worth it. This one is SUCH an improvement. Scads better. I'm not a huge fan of the outline fill-in thing but overall, the site is very nicely done. Good job.
01/07/2006 12:48:40 AM · #23
matt, you need some coding done ;-)
when you use the [back] button, it takes you back to the initial 'welcome' page, where you have to select broadband or dialup. the [back] button should take you back one page, not all the way to the site entrance.

btw (how rude of me)--it's a great looking site!

Thanks mk! I felt bad too...I hadn't seen the forest, only birch and maple. It really did look good to my eyes...and then this...this does too so ... I'm glad at least this is an improvement. lol I agree wholeheartedly on the blog thing and once I found a scheme I liked on that, I actually kind of fit the site in with that.

@skip and ombra - I'm not sure how I would even code that to be honest. The site is all one "piece" so it doesn't change when you go to say weddings. It's still just pictureinfinity.com/index.html that you are on. Maybe there's a way in the flash to take you back to the last place you were in the flash. I'm just learning flash, so I'm sure there are things possible that I can only dream still. :D

(Maybe that guy who's always an ass when I post my website who says he codes flash for a living will tell me how to do it - and by the way, this site is handwritten from scratch, I designed every element of it so :p!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

hehe

Sorry, had to be done.
