Had to share this shot. The Steelers beat the Browns 41-0 today, and this was probably the best play of the game. Some idiot ran onto the field in Cleveland, and eventually got tackled by James Harrison of the Steelers. And I mean TACKLED. Harrison literally picked the guy up and tossed him head over heels to the ground.

I couldn't believe my eyes watching the whole thing. I understand they didn't show any of it during the broadcast, so as not to encourage fellow idiots to do the same.

Then he was gang tackled by the police. I'm sure he'll be having a very Merry Christmas...!

The fans at Charlotte were much more tame today :)

Yeah, that would indeed be the guy's leg.

My brother made a good point... just watch this idiot sue Harrison (the Steeler that flattened him), and end up winning a big judgement thanks to this act of genius.

And your photo may be entered in evidence ... : )

Actually, I'm expecting an announcement that he's being fined by the NFL.

Didn't we just have a discussion on the use of physical restraint in exercising property rights?

If the guy's truly injured, he probably has a justifiable action -- the statutory penalty for aggravated trespass does not include disabling physical injury.

I would agree with that. The man's obvious lack of good judgment does not warrant use of extreme unnecessary force. Of course the guy may just have a few bruises (doubtful)

He looks like a tool...

It is indeed a sad commentary that someone can engage in such an activity and then possibly reap rewards from them. Hopefully, he will fade quietly into the sunset, never to be heard from again.

From the Akron Beacon Journal

The Steelers had their offense on the field when the man jumped from the stands and took off after running back Verron Haynes.

Harrison said he worried the fan might have a weapon in his hand.

``He turned around and was backing up towards our sideline,'' Harrison said. ``I didn't know if the guy had anything on him. I felt like with his back to me I could take him down safely without risking injury to myself or my teammates and hold him there until the proper authorities came.''
(emphasis added)

Sounds to me like he was using necessary force to disable a threat. Now if he'd started beating up on the guy once he was down, I'd agree with you... but it looks like all he did was take the guy down and hold him there.

Yep, that's just what happened. He just pinned him to the ground afterwards. Many thanks for the link!

Here's a shot my brother took for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette of the guy from the other side of the field:

Glad we got BOTH sides of the story. It is imperative that the WHOLE story is understood before conclusions are jumped to, as too often happens in political rant posts. Excellant capture of an opportune nature. Some good lawyering was taking place on the Steelers sidelines prior to any commentary to the press (IMO).

Yeah, none of the original info mentioned him (appearing to) chase anybody -- usually these guys just run through the middle of the field to show off their cranial vacuity.

Look at his pants - clearly a Browns fan. As long as he's not the quarterback, he's fair game.
