Question, I almost went with this shot. I really like it but I didn't have the courage to go with it because it's a bit to abstract in appearance. I went with something a bit more obvious. Was I right to do so? What do you all think? Would this have bombed? or done well?
Tip of the nail

This, and this are both outtakes of mine :-) |

Both would have done well...IMHO, except the second one would have been bashed by people who felt it was merely photographing of "original" art |

Guarawa,
BTW...the shadow is actually the "nail" it's an extremely shallow DOF. I stood the square cut nail on it's head. It's only like 2", the tip is about 3mm square.

Bombed. Well, at least i would have voted it likley a 3 with a comment..i cannot tell what it is - a small box on a gray BG. I don't see how shallow DOF plays a part in the image, as in creting impact or directing my attention.
So you can rest easy taht you made the right choice!

These were ones that weren't even close to my entry:
The other 10 or so are too similar to my entry, but will share later.

I like all but #2.
And if you turned down #4 as your entry than I am thinking you got a ribbon. Cause I would have thought that one was a lock in for a ribbon. |
