I'm just giving you a hard time. WTG. With a score like that, you're on your way to a ribbon.

oh joy is me. I'm up to 4.09 now.

This is, quite frankly, my best ever low scoring photo.

One of my favorite photos I've ever taken.

I was giving the population the benefit of the doubt. I guess I was being too nice.

I didn't think that most people thought the way Rose8699(or whatever) did when she commented that a photo with an extremely deep DOF would be a 10 in this challenge.

Ahhh, misquoted. A deep DOF is not a Shallow DOF. What I said was photos that had blur before and after/side to side of the subject, honing the eye in on the subject, was an actual "shallow dof". A deep or "great DOF" is when everything is in focus. There should be a "confusion line" before and after the subject, or side to side of the subject (although most if not all photo examples were from front to back). I read that on about 5 different websites, so for some to believe that it should be a macro or a telephoto shot, I would have to assume they were wrong.

Unfortunately, I see a WHOLE lot of close up shots and telephoto shots with no blur either way. Oh well, I am voting the highest on those that really show a shallow dof, and a whole lot understood that too.

I worked hard on my entry to. After 10 votes it is just now pushing a 5.0. LOL...so don't feel bad. A lot of people think anything that is up close and personal is Shallow DOF.

I was referring to your comment on the two deer in front of an urban landscape in the deer thread. You claimed it would be a great shot for the DOF challenge, and would have given it a 10. However, there was nothing in the shot suggesting a shallow DOF, and the DOF was actually as deep as you can almost get.. with the buildings being in full focus, if blurred by a bit of haze.

damn trolls! so far no score below a 4 from me and those (4) were the small photos. sorry if you had a small photo but that's just unacceptable.

Ohhhh, sorry. That was when I first thought a shallow dof shot meant a close up shot, or anything in a photo that just stood out - be it back, front, or in between. Then someone posted a shot on the shallow dof thread that showed the blurs, and that is when I started asking questions and doing research. After that you will find I "made the switch"..LOL. Sorry for the confusion.

S'alright.. My point being that I don't have confidence that many other people actually did the research.

Artyste, it was amazing how many people thought I was being too serious about my entry, and I was told that I should just enter what I like because no matter what someone will comment. I don't see it that way, because I do care how I fair and how I score in the challenges. I am mostly here FOR the challenges...LOL. So yes, I do research on each and every challenge, and I put a lot of work "usually", into each challenge. I'm not doing to bad either, from what I can see. So I think "research" does pay off if you care about what you enter. In what I learn from that research also effects how I vote too, so the research is really two fold in my case.

My wife, Brizmama, is at a 6.36 right now. :D

Makes me feel sorta better about my crappy score.

I had another spaz moment where I took a second round of pics and chose the wrong one again. I couldn't see it until my scores started coming in. Oh well...
