You never want to see anyone die. And I know that we all have our time. But man, she suffered so much, I just want to know why.
Why does Matt have to go through this pain? Why couldn't we get just one more miracle?
And I know I won't get an answer. |

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your friend Julie. I visited her website yesterday & boy was she an amazing woman :). It is always hard to lose a loved one, esp. this time of year, & someone who obviousely loved life so much. But it is also nice to know that she did enjoy life, regardless of her hardships, & she was all that she could be.
You, her family, & friends are in my prayers.......

| She has touched soo many lives. I just read her story on Body for Life and she inspires me even now. I don't know why things happen in this way either but her spirit never gave up. I will keep Matt in my prayers. |

Some people are just too precious to live in this hard world. We get to borrow them from God for a little while and live in the light of their friendship and love. Then God calls them home and our lives are forever changed for having known them. |

I was sorry to read this--although a stranger to most of us, her story is touching, and we all share your loss with you. I'm especially sorry for the loss of such a fine person to all her friends and family. A big DPC virtual group hug is in order.

I'm so sorry hun, I know what it's like to lose a loved one during the holiday season, I lost my grandmother, who was my best friend between Christmas and New Years 13 years ago and my brother on the 22nd, 3 years ago. It sucks.

It's rare in life that you get to say you met a person who is a true hero. Julie was. She faced a life that would have sent most of us to our knees. Not only did she face her challenges, she pushed past them, changed her life, and probably extended her life by a few years. Without the physical transformation she made who knows how long she would have been with us?
Julie wrote her own eulogy several months back. I wanted to share it with you here:
Keep the Fire Burning
I believe I will not only live, but thrive after this transplant. That said, if I am wrong and if this is the end for me, I need your help. I expect all of you, who are ALL champions in your own right, to carry my torch. I think my story lit a spark in people and I want to keep the flame alive if I'm not here to do it myself.
The way I see it, I can't lose. Surviving this transplant means a whole new life for me. Dying from this transplant means a whole new life for me. I've never been so at peace with something. This is my time to shine, so whether that light shines on Earth or in Heaven, may God's will be done.
Please remember that I love you. You have brought immeasurable happiness into my life. My life has been a hard one, but very blessed at the same time, and I'm thankful to God for it. God bless and keep you every one!
If you haven't yet- please take the time to read Julie's story. I can't bring her back, but I can pay her story forward. Hopefully it inspires you to make a change in your life. That's the legacy she'd want to leave. |
