at the moment, i've got a number of friends who are going through a lot, and i just wanted to put this image out there for them, to say that it's going to be alright, that whatever it is going on right now will pass.

this was taken on rt 5, out of williamsburg, about a 1/2 mile from the where the chickahominy river meets the james river. a tremendously quick storm had just blown through, completely saturating the cornfields. i passed this by, but for some reason felt compelled to turn around and go back to see if i could catch anything. well, this is what i caught.

the title came from the name of a song written by mercy creek.

i was really on the fence about entering this in the wind challenge. something about this image struck me, but, unfortunately, basic editing rules ultimately failed to let me do the image justice.

post: cropped, adjustments for brightness/contrast, selective color, hue/saturization, sized.

Skip, Thanks for sharing this amazing image! I got goosebumps when I opened it. The power of this photograph transcends my ability to describe it. Your church's phrase "a peace that passeth all understanding." is very fitting for this image and the message it holds.

Very nice. The sky in contrast to the murky dirtied up water is great.

This is just breath taking. I'm so glad you stopped to take the shot, took it so well, and posted it for us to see. Thank you. I really think you need to enter it on some site that does POTDs or something. It is a beautiful photo. You just feel like you're there and you've survived it.

Beautiful photo, I like how you captured the damage of the storm & mainained a feeling of tranquility as the storm left. Very nice!
