When you zoom in or out during the exposure.
very hard to find something original with this effect. But, its also an opportunity to learn a new technique |

It's just not possible with a great many cameras -- it would leave out a lot of people unless you allow digital simulation of the technique, and even that leaves out people without certain software. |

nah, they can just hold their camera and run REALLY fast while they are taking the picture. |

A great one that was done by zooming during the exposure
Matter of fact Neil does a lot of them and I think they are great

But see, that will give a motion blur and not a true zoom effect.
Some of us don't run too fast anymore, either. |

Considering the many challenges we have, can't we have one dedicated to people with SLR's? (hehehe i just got one so im really eager to experiment with it)

Use a bike... ;^)
I love the concept, but Paul is right, it would limit the number of people able to participate - myself included. :(

It's a possibility, but there'd probably then be a demand for a balancing challenge is which you're only allowed to use a P&S camera.
Nothing which says you can't apply the technique to any other challenge topic. |

That's true, a P&S vs SLR challenge would allow the ZOOM EFFECT challenge!!!
But is there anything P&S cameras could do that the SLR's Can't??? |

Fit in your pocket. That's it, we need an "Inside your pocket" challenge. |

I don't know about that. Some of those cargo pants have pretty big pockets. But then you'd have to where the waistband at your waist otherwise the pants would be around your ankles due to the weight of the camera.

Frame a shot on the LCD? Don't know how that could be translated to a challenge tho... ;-)

I really liked this one and thought it would score higher than it did in the challenge. Oh well... |

i can't to seem to find any good "zoom effect" shots, even on the web! Therefore, its more the duty for us DPCers to revolutionize the web with some crazy "zoom effect" pics.

As I remember, I was lying on the ground to take this. The white lights were flashing; that's why they're not "zoomed". |
