Yes, another contest. This one is geared towards giving the participants practice in advanced editing, or at least showing their skills.

The idea and the rules are as follows.

1) A full size picture will be emailed to those who sign up.

2) You are to edit the photo to make it "gallery quality", per the DPC advanced editing rules, but a bit more relaxed on the major elements rule.

3) There can be up to 10 participants.

4) You will have 2 days to edit the photo, at which time you are to email me a reduced version, no more than 640 pixels in the longest dimension and no more than 150KB.

5) The edited photos will be emailed to me, and I will post them all in a gallery that permits anonymous rating and non-anonymous comments

6) The vote goes on for 2 days.

7) The winner will be announced. The winner gets to pick the next photo and run the next round, and so on. (I can provide the voting gallery again, if they wish)

In some ways, this will be like one of the threads where people ask for editing help, and then a number of people participate, except that your efforts will be rated and commented on, which means everyone learns from the experience. If you win, and get to use your own photo, you have the advantage of getting a lot of perspectives on how to improve one of your shots.

Note that this is not like the gauntlet contest. The object of this is to use your eye, artistic vision, and editing skills to take a photo from initial capture to a "winning" photo.

If you are interested, the first 10 people to sign up here will be the first contestents. I will supply the first photo.

Who's in?

Ok, everyone below this line is in. If you don't have an email address capable of accepting an attachment in your profile, send it to me using the PM feature of DPC.

(I mean below this line when messages are shown in newest on top!)

In the spirit of Spinal Tap and BBspot maybe your list should go to eleven.

"Oceans 11"
12 days of Christmas minus that 1 annoying partridge.

11 Lords a leaping.

12 diciples minus that nasty Judas Iscariot

7, 11 or doubles...

(BTW, AR, I'd rather have the utilities and a full complement of RR property.)

So, are we allowed to use a picture that we have already taken, or do we have two days to go out shoot the picture and edit it? I also assume that since this is Out and About, that it should be a photo we went out to take?
