I am sorry guys, I don't think I can make it as my computer has died!
Agh! It is in the repair shop now (something w/ the hard drive). I am crying right now :-(
I am currently on my dad's computer which I have been given a special 5 min on. Otherwise due to work, it is not possible to use his :-(

sorry to hear your pc has died on you annah... maybe you can make it to the next go-around of this Gauntlet... so i guess we won't be seeing you much in the challenges until your pc is repaired ;(

My Round 2 image has also been sent.
What does everyone think of having each match on its own time schedule - when the voting is done and the new round images are in, why not start voting the next round right away? Subject to Lee's availability of course, but I would be happier if the timetable were sped up. My wife is about to pop and I hate to tell her I can't take her to the hospital cuz I have to finish PS'ing a challenge image...

In our second round images - does something of the ORIGINAL have to be left or something of the full res version we won round 1 with?

HOUSEKEEPING/UPDATE
Annah has suffered from a catastrophic computer error and will not be able to join us on this journey :-( I'm very sorry for her loss, and we look forward to seeing her in future events. We're gonna miss ya!
Neil (nshapiro) has graciously offered his spot to Cindi (idnic) so that she can continue to battle. Her battle will be with DrAchoo, and they will be moved to Group 3 (just because it's easier on my spreadsheet). They will be continuing with idnic's (edited) version of her original photo. The image originally belonged to DrAchoo, and although it technically violates one of the guidelines I set forth initially when I distributed images, they feel (and I agree) that the edited version no longer "feels" like DrAchoo's image and it has more flexibility for future rounds. They will battle out the remaining 4 rounds and in the event of a tie, the total votes will decide the outcome.
Ken (Art_Roflmao) has suggested that the contestants set their own pace for the remaining rounds. I originally set up a schedule so that I could have set times to work on this project. After looking at my schedule for next week, I have come to the realization that this is going to be impossible for me to maintain.
I think it is a good thing for the contest to move at the pace set by the contestants but, to be fair, I think the 24 hour maximum edit time should remain intact. It is going to be impossible for me to "police" this rule if we stray from the original schedule so we'll have to rely on the honor system at present. If you finish your entry early, send it in and I'll post it as soon as I have your opponents and get a chance. Voting will begin immediately once the images are posted. I apologize in advance if it takes me a while to get around to it, but I too am dealing with "Christmas stuff", and my wife has asked me why the heck I would start something like this at this time of the year! My reply... Because it's FUN!!!
I realize some may feel like we're "making things up as we go". Well, if you feel like that, then you're absolutely right. I've never done anything like this, so there is a learning curve... I'm not perfect, GET OVER IT!!! :-)
Since each match-up is likely to have their own post, I'll post a progression of winning images at the beginning of each round so that we can keep track of how things are going.
I hope this slight variation in rules is OK with everyone... If not, please direct all hate mail to the SC or D&L since they have nothing to do with this experiment and would probably just delete the e-mail.
