This post has a couple sides to it.
The first being yes it is a very well executed picture of an xbox 360.
But tt is more of a reminder to watch out for some of the many jerks on ebay who take advantage of a situation. For those that haven't heard there is a whole lot more demand for xbox 360's than there are physical units. Therefore those that were lucky enough get them are selling them on ebay for huge profits...
This guy/gal put up a 4"x6" picture of an xbox 360 for auction amid all the 360 frenzy and states that it is for a picture only several times, but still made it look like an xbox ad by throwing in the specs.
Unbelievable, and I wonder what kind of expression the person had on their face when they received it in an envelope after paying This much...
I'll have my 360 soon enough but won't stoop to the level of the scalpers on ebay. |

Dunno what all the fuss is about.. our local EB Games has nine.. count em.. NINE XBox 360 consoles ready to sell.
Nobody here wants them.
Especially now that all the mess is out about the problems they're having.
Suckers. |

I have not been to EBAY in years. After being screwed once, I never went back.
Maybe he paid by C/C...he can cancel.
What a screw job by the seller. Glad he was kicked off.
Always read EVERYTHING> |

I don't agree with Ebay taking him out, if they did.. the responsibility really lays with the buyer, and man.. you have to be an idiot to buy something you haven't fully examined or read about in the description.. Seriously.
To me, the seller is a genius, not a scammer. |

I agree with you on this part but I believe if you read the EBay TOS it would say deceiving it not allowed. I am not sure. I think they were right in keeping the integrity of their site by removing this guy.

Sony Fanboys are spreading the rumors of problems... there was a 3% defect rate after launch which is better than to be expected with as much product as has gone out thus far.
You really got nine at your EBG? I know some xbox live people up there that are looking. |

This reminds me of an auction a couple years ago totled "PLAYSTATON 2 ORIGINAL BOX AND RECEIPT."
As you may have guessed, the buyer got an empty box and a sales receipt.

I dont see that as smart, I see it as a con artist. |

Hmm.. I don't really see it as deceiving though.. but it's all in interpretation I guess.
I'd have to agree with the integrity thing though. Too bad, heh.. I think more stupid buyers *should* be weeded out. lol |

Free enterprise my friend. It only takes careful reading to not get ripped off, too bad if you can't manage that I say. |

I think con artists and scammers are repulsive and due harm the free enterprise system. If you find them intelligent and think they work well in our society....so be it. |

Are you running PC or Mac?
If it is PC then you are supporting perhaps the biggest con artist there is: Bill Gates is probably one of the biggest. If you don't believe me watch a documentary on the man. |

We have every gaming system here from little to big ... Xbox 360 NOPE, didn't stand in line, won't stand in line and won't pay more than it's worth.
Rex .. you are a mac guy?? I've contemplated switching over BUT for the amount of software $$'s I have invested in PC stuff is it worth it? (serious ? for you). It is the only drawback I have from changing over. (CS2, PSP10 and lots of other software on a souped up 1 yr old laptop) |

People are careless and dumb, and if they are willing to give you money for something that is essentially worthless, then you deserve to take it. I don't really view this as a scam or a cheat...he did repeat several times that it is a picture of an Xbox, and if you bid on something that quickly without reading through even just the title of the bid, then you deserve to have gotten ripped off.

The only thing i don't like about the site is that they didn't take a picture of the picture of the xbox 360 - they just posted the file they printed.
Otherwise, the blame lands on the buyer. |

Wow, wish I could sell a 4x6 for that much!
Personally, it's pretty clear to me that his text was written to bury the fact that it was a picture. Yes, it says that several times, but like virus writers he used psychology of perception and social engineering to deceive buyers.
I believe laws and ebay should protect the buyer, otherwise, we'd be in big trouble whenever we sign an agreement where they've buried terms. Come to think of it, just about every software package and service agreement does this little trick, first, honestly, by putting it in legal terms, but then without the full best of intentions, because no one really has time to read through it and hire a lawyer while you are doing an install.
Recently I read about a software vendor who wrote a clause in the agreement that anyone reading this sentence should contact the vendor and claim a prize. It took something like 11 months for anyone to notice, and when someone finally did, they gave him a fair chunk of money (something like $1000). Now where did I read that--I don't remember the specifics. Anyone recall?

Prize in EULA info
But personally I think if you are going to blow $650 you should at least bother to read what you are bidding on - it isn't exactly hidden - it's in the page title, the banner, the description - 'Up for auction is a 4x6 photograph of the brand-new Microsoft Xbox 360. ' isn't exactly hidden.
Anyway - I've sold pictures that size for more - so what's the problem ? :) |

Thanks--I forgot where I read that!
And if you've sold a 4x6 for more than that all I can say is:

The first bid was for $50 and there were 12 bid retractions.
