Calling the entire Site Council out on more than one occasion - also not a positive. They tend towards the stable, neutral sorts. I tend to be a bit too .. "passionate" we'll say. Plus I got a potty mouth!

I have to show this to my husband! I don't often get called "stable" and "neutral", wow!!!! This is really good. :)))) Love it.

If you seriously want to be considered, you need to be very active in the site and demonstrate diplomacy, manners and a good working knowledge of the rules and policies. Good communication skills are important, and you can't go bonkers if you don't agree with something.

I understand I wouldn't be considered...but like I said, I will try..If I don't get it..then I will try again later..I'm trying my hardest to be most active in this site. I comment on most of the pictures..etc..I do my best on whatever helps this site. I don't think I have ever went bonkers on anything.!! Like I said..I will do my best..if it takes me 3 or 4 tries...

That's food (usually meat) cooked over direct heat, and often with a sweetened and spiced tomato-based sauce.

If all that niceness fails, you can always consider bribery.

I took it to be an expression of astonishment combined with unmitigated delight -- many people who swear do so in moments of emotional intensity both positive and negative.

All jokes aside, like any position you apply for there is a combination of both politics, skill and need involved.

SC is always looking for individuals with skills in specific areas to help move the site forward. As an example, I have an extensive background in web based application QA testing, and work in camera retail.

We are always looking for solid international candidates to provide differing points of view as well as the ability to police the forums at 3am EST. :)

If you are really interested, start by providing good answers to people with questions in the forums. Being one of the users who is known as being helpful is always a good thing. :) And don't be discouraged if you don't make it first try. It took me two tries to make SC. If you really want to position, keep applying, keep contributing to the community.

And bribing the site admins with food helps too. ;)

And the vote was taken after I'd departed from Fanatics as a regular. Look when a certain someone got hired, then count back.

You are aware that over half of SC rarely or never uses Fanatics?

The last time around I was asked by several sc members to throw my hat in the ring. I did. While the consideration was in process I became very worried and then prayed that I would not be selected. My wishes were answered. Why was I worried? :here it goes:

I have high respect for the services that all of these fine folks do. However, for me to join in my world would mean a restriction of my freedom. How is that you ask?

Well, the s/c to me is a position of high responsibility. If selected it would mean that I will have to forfeit expressing myself candidly in many issues. It means the end of the rant forums for me because it is not very nice to see s/c members expressing political views since the political arena is so polarized that one is unable to enter and leave without scars. Just by making the first statement we indicate what are colors are.

I am very well versed in the art of diplomacy and can defuse a misunderstanding but my overall freedom of expression means more to me. besides, it will have an adverse effect on my comment drive.

Again, my respect and admiration goes out to all the s/c and those to be. May the force be with you.

If you want to get on Site Council you should never say anything in these forums (or at Fanatics) that could possibly offend anyone. Be as politically correct as you possibly can. Never speak against any person's image, style, or technique; any challenge suggestions or website requests; never complain about challenge results, or question decisions of the SC, especially regarding DQs or proposed rules changes. Be in favor of anything presented as "an idea to improve dpc" no matter how cockamamie it may be. Never post to a forum on any topic that could be the least bit controversial until you see which way the wind's blowing, then go with the flow. If you feel compelled to speak on a controversial issue try to avoid appearing to advocate for one side or the other; make it seem like you are just adding information to the debate. Be very careful in what you say regarding any ideas for changes that would make it harder to cheat in the challenges, supporting these will make you lots of enemies. It's probably a bad idea to become known as a person who makes requests for DQ/validation while you're voting because enforcing the rules is a lot of work for SC. You can get away with being lukewarm in supporting anonymity but always go hard in support of creativity. It will help if you post to the forums regularly to give the impression that you are on here a lot of the time, but your posts don't have to be too intelligent or logical because they don't want anybody smarter than them on there. Being a little bit arrogant is OK but keep it to small doses until you're chosen, then you can let it all hang out. And try to develope a reputation as a person who can keep a secret. If you get selected, don't expect to have any influence until you've been on there for a quite a while, and by the that time you will be willing to just go along with the bunch out of loyalty. You'll need to be prepared to come to the defense of a fellow SC member regardless of what they have done if they are called out in these forums. But you don't have to worry about having to do too much after you get on SC, they never get rid of anyone for any reason.

And whatever you do, don't use sarcasm when talking about dpc or SC. Normal people tend to become more thin-skinned, and lose their sense of humor, after they see how important and prestigeous they are as members of the Site Council.
