After being inactive for a long time on this site I finally took part in the free study challenge and uploaded few other photos to my portfolio.

Here are few photos that would be intersting to have your comments on.

I took those two photos of a large, powerful and famous Icelandic waterfall, Dettifoss, and another small one in Northern Iceland on a 4-5 days photo trip around Iceland last summer:

And here are three of few that I was considering for the free study challenge:

I will maybe upload more of those water&Ice photos later.

Which one do you like the most and least?
Comments would be nice :)

The blue images on the bottom row strongly resemble a shot in the Free Study challenge. If you shot the one entered, you're destroying your anonymity. If the one entered is NOT yours, the actual entrant will be a victim of voters who thing he is YOU and don't appreciate the loss on anonymity. I'd suggest you remove them for now.

They are all lovely shots, btw.

The photo I submitted to the Free study challenge is completely different from those I posted here below, I was checking out the entries in the challenge and I think I know which one you are referring to.
I'm not going to remove my photos, the one in the challenge is maybe similar to mine but this is just some coinsident. I'm only uploading them as outtakes and want to have people's opinions, I wouldn't have uploaded them if I had another similar to it in a challenge that is going on. I have shot this same motive few times for years, It's my favourite at this waterfall scene in the winter.

Thanks for your comments on my photos! :-)

At least we know it's not yours now. That helps :-)

Which is why I think posting outtakes and such AFTER the challenge is completely finished would be a good idea. If anonymity is so important to us as a collective, individual posts like this compromise that concept.

I'm beginning to suspect that Iceland's tourism board has hired a phenomenal photographer to promote the country on DPChallenge. They registered a bunch of usernames like "Heida", "brin61", and "Amason" and ask innocent sounding questions like "Are these photos any good?" as if they might not win most juried competitions.

Those photos show an incredible grasp of using light to convey texture and emotion.

Well it's working. Anyone know if there are flights from Canada to Iceland without a stop at Heathrow?

With regards to the photos though, very beautiful. What was the shutter speed on the Gullfoss Falls "Water Colors"? I love the fact that it was long enough to blur it but there are no obvious blown-out whites.

Thanks for your comments.

It was set at 1/5 sec or there about.

hehe, yes we live on tourism and we are "only" taking these photos to promote the country, and we're doing it for free.. eeehh, I just think it's not strange that we use our beautiful landscape in our photos, we don't have to go very far to some nice nature scene, no matter where we live in Iceland. And we are proud to live here. Our symbol photos are more variant than bunch of eagles and flag photos.. doohh! No, I'm not trying to step on some toes, people from US are proud of their symbols, and we are too, ours are the landscape and nature and some may say hot women and wild nightlife...

"Ãsland, bezt í heimi!"... ehh :-P
