Considered this, the one I entered (not even close to this), and the one I'm saving for best of 2005. ;)

Probably not worthy of a Free Study entry, but I thought these snapshots were fun-

I had this entered for 25 days then changed it to a completely different one at the last moment. Until now i'm not sure if I made the right decision.

i did the same thing, trying to take shots outside of what i normally like to take. my score's not quite dismal, but for this challenge, it's going to be less than average. i'll be lucky to break 50%... but, hey... gotta stretch yourself.
here's an outtake :

I actually had a lot of material to work with, but most of it was 'work' related and posted in some form here. Being an artsy site, not sure how the 'commercial' work would fare, and most of it might be recognized anyway. Need to plan ahead next time!
Commercial work, that i never considered but figure it would not do well anyway:
I have entered kids, dogs and flowers, but not cats...perhaps some version of this one?

My entry for the Free Study is not related to any of these two pictures (and was taken on a different day). I had the first picture as my entry for 2 weeks only to be pulled out a week before the deadline. The second picture is actually an outtake from the "collection" challenge (which is totally different from what I've submitted; this one is post-processed with the use of advanced rules) and became one of my close choice for the free study).
I ended up posting something which isn't doing as well as I expected. Well, I took these pictures (including my entry) using my brother's D100 so I shouldn't complain...

LOL - I thought he reminded me of the tortoises (or maybe they were turtles) in Finding Nemo. |

I might have gone with this one, but the little girl was visiting us for a birthday party and I never got the chance to ask her parents if they'd mind the entry. I didn't want it posted as a "permanent" photo if they objected. FWIW, the shot was totally candid. |
My son and daughter put together this exact same house last night! Nice little kit (i.e., easy for my wife!). :-) |

Wow are there some great shots in this challenge. Even the out takes are kicking my butt. Oh well, I am content with my occational 6. Its just fun to enter, and I actually have learned a ton from these contests over the last couple years. Good luck everyone.

I couldn't choose which one to go with, and my entry is completely different from any of these? I'm glad I didn't enter the lightning shot, cause there is a awesome shot of some in this challenge.

These were a few candidates, but I had submitted landscape before for a free study, so I wanted to do something different...
Tenaya lake, yosemite
Sunset at half dome, I like this better than my previous attempts

It was taken the same morning as my ducks, and I thought that it would look too much like it. Kicking myself now. LOL

Since I'm sitting on a 4.8, maybe one of these would have done better. |

I almost entered this one. Still an open question for me. I think that my feeling that abstracts don't fare so well here tipped the scale. (What a sell-out, eh?)

I entered something totally different, but shot this on the 31st of October, one day too early... would have entered this one if it had been possible.
