Gratuitious or excessive use of language (either in a post or an overall pattern by a user) is unacceptable, but that doesn't mean we're going to chase down every post on the site that contains a swear word.

The problem is, now there are people running around with absolutely no photographic skill, caught in a loop, who are never going to learn anything about lighting or composition or anything because they're just too busy post-processing. I mean that's cool and all and there is definately a place in the business for people who like post. I'm not a greedy person, but I just don't see the need to explain in great detail a technique that you seem to have down pretty good to the entire world...andrzej sells a PSD file of his work for quite a bit of money so people can try and learn the technique.

When you call someone out in the forums, state in so many words that he is not a real artist, and trivialize his style by saying that all he is doing is running a Photoshop action when there's actully a lot more to it than that, you shouldn't be surprised when he takes offense to that.

The DPChallenge community is all about sharing and helping each other learn all aspects of photography, from concept to final printed work. To suggest to someone, let alone 'tell them' to keep quiet when they decide to share knowlege, much less to berate and intimidate them for doing so, runs completely counter to the spirit of this community and the culture we've developed as a community over the last 4 years.

Add to that the fact that you highjacked this thread to do all that, and you're walking awfully close to the line.

Please refrain from any further off-topic posts on this thread. If you have any questions regarding site forum policy, please direct them to Site Council via the contact page or start a new thread for the purpose.

Then PM it to me, you're contributing to the thread-highjacking. And it IS ON TOPIC. Furthermore, what line am I walking close to? Even further than that, I never 'intimidated' anyone, so watch what words you put into my mouth ;-)

ALSO, I've gotten numerous private messages from people saying that I wasn't out of line in my original post. They all agree with me.

What I hope for is that people will focus more on getting it right out of the camera and not on post-processing.

And as far as being selfish, yeah, I guess if you want to call it that, it's fine. When the wright brothers invented a plane, they sold it, they didn't go around helping everyone else build a plane...and when BOEING adapted that design into their own way, they again sold it, they didn't go around helping all the other airlines build their planes for free...that's my defense, not that I need one, because my intentions were to have people focus on photography, not post-processing in the first place.
