Having trouble adding an image to thread reply. what's the best, easiest way?

Open the image in your portfolio. Look at the URL in the address bar; it ends with a 6-digit number. Copy that number. Go to the thread you wish to paste it into. Above the reply field is a series of 5 icons. Clicxk on the rightmost icon, and paste the copied image ID number into the field that opens and click "OK"; the image will be posted as clickable thumbnail that links to the larger image, like so:

Yes and no. There's a way to link to images hosted outside of DPC, and even to create thumbs of them, but I haven't used it. Simplest way is to drop it in your portfolio, yes. You have a lot of room there, and you can always weed out dormant images if you need more space later.

There's a tutorial here on how to link to thumbnails of offsite photos a thread here about how to add them from your portfolio (which you seem to have already mastered).
