I work as a consultant and am at one place 95% of the time. I bill by the hour. Since I'm moving next week, I was going to take few days off, so I'd be losing that income.
Today at lunch he told me not to worry about it, bill for the full days & take as much time as I need. That's like $1,300 I wasn't counting on. I wonder if that should go toward that big screen TV I've been planning on getting for the new house, or maybe... GASP... a dSLR.
My only fear about getting a dSLR is that I might start taking more serious photos and less stupid stuff.
Kudos to the boss. This is a nice start to my weekend. :-)

I agree 100%!
Stupid stuff is just as readily available with a DSLR as with any other comera....for example:

donate the money, so you won't have to worry about it. :o).
For example, the Wavelength DSLR fund is a good one.

I'm in exactly the same position! - I'm leaving my contract next Friday after 3 years, and I bill by the hour.
Except I'm going to have to go in all of the days :( I wish my boss was that generous.

| Buy a dvd rewinder, dehydrated water and a solar powered flashlight then say "that was cool" then take it back. |

I've been doing a bit of everything IT-related (.NET dev work, project management, sql, db design, business analysis) for a large American software company beginning with 'M'
And now, it's time to concentrate on my own software company //www.payback.ie (payroll software) - As we've just finalised a licensing deal with a Norwegian company, //www.mamut.com
I'm pretty nervous about the move though. That income was pretty good, now I'm going to have to survive in the real world. :)

Wow, sounds pretty exciting to me! More possibility for great success, more possibility for horrible failure. I buy antacids by the barrel, would like some? ;-)

| Ah, and I've just realised, when you said 'moving', you meant 'moving house', not 'moving job'? - Is the price of gold not right yet? :) |

I've done the 'horrible failure' thing a few times now, and the antacids.
So, I'm giving one last try to making my million.
If it fails then I'm going to sell up, move to our place in Croatia, and survive on oranges and goats cheese.

A good idea. They want my real name though, Joey's the only one who knows that! And what do they mean by to participate you have to raise 1,500 dollars minimum? If you get to $1,499 they won't take your donation?
;-)

Goog luck! If you strike it rich I expect plane tickets to visit you in Ireland. It looks like a beautiful place & I've always wanted to go.

No prob! - I'll swap you for a gold panning trip to Canada.
Yea, it is beautiful here. I take it for granted though. Sometimes I'm driving along at sunset and it's like there's an oil painting going on around me.
