Take photographs in the city or town you live in. You may take as many or as few as you like. They don't have to be taken during any specific timeframe. Show people what there is to see in your town!

If someone visited your town on a photo expedition, what should they see? Where should they go? What is worthy of a photograph?

This assignment will have a 6 month duration so you can make photos in winter, summer, and spring.

Due: July 11, 2003

Feel free to share your photos via this thread anytime :)

Are you sure you want to limit it to city/town rather than just area/region? The best photographic subjects around here (and the things that draw visitors) are outside the city.

Oh I like this. One questions though. I may be moving back to the states in April. Can my town be both where I am now and where I will be? Both have great photo potential.

I think that "My Area" would qualify for sure :)

Here are a couple of oldies from my town, I'll take some new ones for this assignment I think! It will be quite a challenge, nothing much here of any interest.

damn...you mean I have to create yet another web page of the pics I already have out there.....oh well I guess I can call it a "best of" web page for my area....

plus this gives me another excuse to re-shoot some places I have been wanting to get in different lighting :)

This picture is fairly representative of the town/area where I live. As is this, this, and this.

During the winter, it isn't so interesting as we are at too low an elevation to have a lot of wintergreens, though we have several, but not high enough to have a lot of snow. :-(

If you come to Iceland you must go to this outside museum. It is full of old buildings and stuff. It is open in the summer time.

Here are some shots from the museum I took this summer:

Way cool pics Arnit!
They inspire my imagination of your land.
They make me curious for more.
What more could you want from a photo?

But to those of us who have never seen it before........

Is there a new thread here?

My Town

I have been through some of my older images to start my 'My Town' series. I have added comments to most of the images to explain what they are.

Imagine this project as a collection of images that a Chamber of Commerce would use to invite visitors to your community and surrounding area...

Hey John,
How old can the photos be, and is this challenge restricted to digital cameras or do you allow scans?

Uh , John ? winter here in montana lasts 6 months or more , Wouldnt be to appealing if all I had to show was brown ,cold or snow. I'll have to dig up some old stuff. Is that ok?

Leadville, Colorado, a town with "ten months of Winter, and two months of mighty late in the Fall."

I am guessing sideline assignments are open for anyone to participate?

It sounds wonderful. I bet you get sun. Seattle, 8 months of gray, wet and gloomy - 3 months of Heaven and 1 month undecided.

Well .. i do need to take some updated shots .. but here is a start to my neighborhood and small town of Celebration, FL .... it's the town that Walt Disney World started and is now owned by the county ... we dont even have a stop light in the downtown area ... just one from the off ramp of the interstate toll road

My town .. my current one .. by heart it would be Paris ... but this is the current one.
Went quickly through the others work (but quickly) ...

Web site suggestion : Link rooms ? Somebody could create a room to post link, a 'moderator' would own the room and would be able to remove entries ... one person could have a link there and maybe a button to say 'updated' so that room visitors could follow the updated links .. any other ideas to maintain the list ?
