My family have recently bought me a new Lumix camera
I wonder if someone could help what settings are best for picture size? Is it important to put it on the highest res and then downsize it?
I think it seems to loose the clarity a bit when I do that
Also what do you feel about the softwear that comes with it
I am not thrilled with it
I really loved my Fuji camera and I am finding it really hard to get to grips with this camera
Does anyone else feel this way?
Also when I try to upload an image it says it is not a jpeg and yet my softwear is saying it is
Any comments will be appreciated
Regards

Kind and generous soul that I am, I'll take that camera off your hands so you dont have to worry about it :)
Seriously, you do want to shoot at the highest res possible at all times, and as for your PC not picking up the jpegs... I'm not sure. Could you be shooting in RAW mode? I've never used the cam, and have no idea about the software, but most manufacturer software is mediocre at best.
Read the manual a few times and you should get more comfortable with the cam. It's a nice one.

I have not even opened the software that came with the camera. What was your previous post processing software? Are you shooting in TIFF? I have a copy of the Panasonic software somewhere.

Work with it and don't blame the camera for the software shortcomings (you don't say what software it is)
I have the FZ20 and I will be hard-pressed to consider anything else. The Panasonic lens is one of the best all-use lenses you could find.
Comparing it to your Fuji, you have a huge leap in tools to really grow your photography. You now have 3.1 up to 8.0 megalix, a choice of ISO settings, manual focus, image satbalisation, 420mm vs 228 zoom, 60sec shutter min, hot shoe, manual shutter and aperture. It's a camera that does almost everything a dSLR does except changeable lens and you don't need a changeable lens on this camera since it covers in one lens what most dSLRs need 3 lenses to do.

Hi Brett I see you are from Wellington
I am in Hamilton So Hi!
I am not complaning about the camera just the fact that I cannot upload my file onto D P C for some reason I have never had trouble in the past
I have taken some nice images from this camera
I am not shooting in Tiff or Raw but at the highest res 8
The softwear is the one that came with the camera a Panasonic simple viewer and a Panasonic Photofun viewer and Arcsoft Studio
I use my older Arcsoft softwear
I agree about the lens I guess it will just take time to get use to the size of file and so on.
Several people have told me the softwear is not good it is not just my opinion

Hi Train
The FZ30 is a great camera once you get used to it, I carry mine with me everywhere I go.
You probably want to set it to 8 megapixel / fine JPG, for the most part its not worth using the TIFF/RAW function on the camera (in my experience).
Good luck, I know you'll enjoy it!
