We filled a guy at work's cubicle with styrofoam peanuts, put plotter paper over the opening and filled it to the top.

That cream cheese idea is just cruel!

We always planned on doing that at work at my old job, but never did. But we did some other things, like bring in a 50lb bag of sand, kiddie wading pool, and beach umbrella (among many other things) and convert our project manager's office into a mini-tropical paradise while he was away on vacation. :) He loved it - kept it completely intact for a week when he got back!

And of course there then was the time we "migrated" another manager's office into another area, piece by piece, EXACTLY as he had left it. Oh, and the cigar smoke puffed out a hapless victim's computer's vents, and the Christmas tree decorated with empty beer cans and dental floss "tinsel", and...

God, I miss that job! :)

That reminds me lol. I used to work at a place where we would get dry ice pellets in with items we ordered and since I worked in supply I would get first dibs at them. One day I took a sports drink bottle and put a bunch of the pellets in it, added water, popped the top and placed it behind a guys computer. lol it looked like a train smoke stack shooting out of there. The only down side was that it ran out just as he walked in, timing is everything when working with chemicals lol.

on a side note, dang I wish I'd seen the cream cheese idea last week, I was just at my sister's house unsupervised and would have loved that one...mainly cause my older brother would probably have been blamed lol.

What!?!? Every Christmas we have a big, extended family get together, and the best part is watching somebody open a box with an angry animal inside. There are always a few given out as gags. I'll never forget the Christmas of 1998, when my mother-in-law got a face full of porcupine quills. That same Christmas my brother got a full dose of cobra venom in his eyes. His fault, of course, for tormenting the beast with his new laser-pointer.

If you operate this service as a side-business, I'll PM you the addresses of a few family members...such as my MIL. =)
(Nothing like online shopping to fill out the ol' Christmas list.)

OK here's what you do...

Get her deoderant, remove the cap, spin the dial so about a good inch is out...now cut that inch off, and throw it away. Spin the dial backwards so it goes back in about an inch. Get the cream cheese from the fridge and insert about an inch, packing it in tightly with a butter knife. Now mold it to look proper with the end of your butter knife, and spin the dial about a quarter inch and replace the cap ;-)

Ok.. I've spent a couple nights working on this and here's where we're at...

Can't get this to work. I picked some up at the party shop and these things require a lot of force to shoot not to mention it seems like only one in five works right. I was also a little concerned about the speed the paper comes out at. I test shot myself and it wasn't fun so that one is out. Otherwise a good idea.

It did get me thinking of other ways of doing something similar using a can of compressed air. However, I'm putting this one on the back burner for a moment.

Get a good size box and squeeze a spring or other compressive object into the bottom with a piece of heavy cardboard about 2/3 the size of the box. Pull a string through the bottom of the box to hold it temporarily. Now fill the empty space with foam peanuts and seal the box with tape. When your relative opens it... KABOOM! ;-)

I tried this and this very well may work. I had one spring I found in a box of junk and created a test box. The effect was minor but I think if I scrounge some better/stronger springs this may be the winning idea.

One thing I did determine, cutting the short flaps off the box gives a better dispersement. Just a note for anyone else who may try this.

Oh yeah, it's on. :)

Thanks everyone for the ideas.
