Today I did my very first photo restoration. I had promised my grandmother I would fix this one photo of her when she was 25. The photo was pretty worn out and it was by far the most difficult Photoshop project I've ever done. There's just so many details and it requires so much concentration and patience. I do not know how people can do this for a living, they couldn't pay me enough. With that said, I do feel a great sense of accomplishment. Here are the before and after, what do you guys think? Comments and critiques are welcome :)

Your before links to you and manic. The restoration looks good once I found the torn photo.

Very well-done! Reminds me a lot of a photo of my mom.

If you don't have a tablet/stylus combo, get one -- it will make this type of work 10000% easier than with a mouse.

You want to balance the color a bit. The physical restoration, cracks, etc... looks nice. I like that you didn't smooth it into mush, but rather, let it look its age minus the damage. It's the same look I go for.

The color, though, got a bit out of whack. I tried a very quick and dirty levels adjustmend just to give you an idea of where I think it needs to go. With painted prints like this the color balance can be really difficult to pin down exactly, and it all boils down to personal perefrence.

I would have to agree completely. I like the actual restoration, but the photo still looks way off color.

OK, I played around with the image some more as you guys recommended to remove the color cast. I also added a bit or warmth since the changes made it a little cold. Here it is. Is it better now?
