Are there any limitations on the types of borders that can be used in the Triptych challenge? For instance, can the borders be drawn with a 3D look, or something similarly elaborate? I thought there was something in the rules about this, but I couldn't find anything relating to borders in the Advanced Editing Rules.

I guess I'll just assume that anything goes when it comes to borders. |

You know what they say about when you assume...

Ya, I'm sorta under the impression that anything goes with these borders. Don't quote me on it though. Also be aware that people live to mention the "distracting" border when it is something out of the ordinary. |

Ya know, having 3 shots and a big fancy border all crammed into 640x pixels isn't gonna leave a whole lotta room for detail... :-) |

Yes, I did find that my first idea was great in a larger format, but lost interest when reduced down to entry size. |

Do you really have to have a border, I mean, and do I have to have them laid out in a typical 3:1 ratio wide angle triptych?
Say like, could i have a 600x600 image with two bordered images laid on top it? Would I be breaking the "rules" of triptych-ism?

anybody? I know it's kinda outside the box, but would it be totally out of line?

If there are three "pictures" in the frame, I'm allowing it. Can't speak for anybody else though... |

I don't see any rule anywhere that says a triptych has to be either "traditional" or have borders. As far as I'm concerned any combination of 3 images is "legal" here, as is any complexity of border or no borders at all.

Thank guys, I'll think about this some more, I'm still having some "creative process" malfunctions in my brain, but this is giving me a spark or two.

OK, if this is the type of Triptych in question, I think this would be
completely allowed and well within the challenge decription:
I don't think they have to be full-pane images.
(3 pics, skewed even, ugly borders, and appropriately titled)
or a more conventional approach:

I agree. There are no specific requirements for this triptych, it doesn't have to have borders or be traditional.
Personally I am looking forward to seeing all the different interpretations of triptych that might come up. It will be interesting.

Just for fun, heres a borderless triptych i made and a friend printed as a cyanotype (bad scan sorry). Borderless is completely doable.
