The Canon neck straps are quite painful. Can you recommend a neckstrap? Something that comes on and off the camera easily yet is very secure would be ideal.

Thanks!

I think you should look into a Neoprene strap. Also, the Canon leather hand strap is nice when you don't want the neck strap on there.

The hand strap I've already ordered and should be here tonight. That is the primary reason I wanted something that was easy to remove. I'll take a look at the link, thanks!

I use a Neoprene strap. Very comfortable.

I have both the Canon Handstrap and Optec (link to B&H Photo) strap on my 20D. The neck strap is a lot more comfortable than the one that came with my camera. It's wider and has some good padding.

Op/Tech Pro is absolutely fantastic. There are variations depending on how teh strap attaches to your camera body.

I carried my camera all day for 3 strait days at Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford - the one was outside in 90+ heat - i barely knew the camera was there! And it is long enough (adjustable length) to that you can swing it around to ride kind of under your arm if you are walking for awhile and get tired of the camera banging your belly.

I'm gonna have to look into that... I don't have the problems of the camera banging against my belly, persay, but I know I can't be the only girl who has camera strap issues because of my...um...female form. Plus it's just not good when you are standing there talking to people and realize your camera strap and camera have moved over and are "framing" one boob. ;)

I use a Promaster ContourPro strap as seen on this page from Wolfe's camera. There are several others to choose from but I like the contour enough that I have bought two of them. They are a very significant improvement over the strap that comes with your camera.

I got an Optech Pro strap with my 1D a while back. I never use it, because I hate hanging cameras from my neck (or my shoulder for that matter), but I remember thinking it was really nifty and did feel nice.

It also had snaps so you could take off most of it without having to undo the strap from the camera.

Thank you all, seems like the Op/tech has quite a following, so I may try that one first. Although, I do like the memory card holder on the Tamrac. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

The op/tech's that I've used were convertable into hand straps. 2 for 1 if you will.

I have the same setup on my 20D, and I concur with Jacko - it is much more comfortable than the OEM strap.

How hard is it to switch between the two?

Op/Tech Pro makes my camera feel light as a feather, EVEN WITH LARGE LEN'S!!! It is a bit of money for a strap, the Comfort is worth it. I do Lots of night shots and when I put the camera on my tripod, it is nice to be able to take most of the strap off in 5 seconds! I used my friends Rebel XT the other day and as soon as his original strap hit my neck, I was floored at how heavy his felt. His XT with the kit lens felt heavier than my XT with the 300MM lens! I got mine for free or I would have never purchased it, but NOW I can not live without it! I AM SOLD!

I also recommend the Tamrac Boomerang Neopreme strap.
I've two and they really make the camera feel light by distributing the weight over a wider area.
