On Saturday morning I leave for Tegucigalpa, Honduras to do a photo story about a small village who will receive fresh water for the first time thanks to a church that has drilled a well and will now be installing the pump and piping. I have been to Honduras before but this time it will be for the sole purpose of photography. I'm doing this story for myself, my portfolio and for the church that is going to do the installation.
I received some great last minute advice before leaving for Italy in the spring, so please post some more last minute encouragement/advice as I prepare for this trip! Thanks!
Some advice I've already received and heeded:
1) Immodium (that came in very handy last time)
2) Tuck your pants into your socks anywhere near the rivers
3) Bring candy for the kids in the village
4) Don't storyboard the photo story...take it as it comes but continuously take photos
5) Flashtrax...leave the laptop at home

Might want to check out if you need anti maleria pills, and maybe some shots like hep a/b, yellow fever (I got them when I wento Brazil though they are not required). Since you've already been, this may be a moot point
Maybe a bug hat or something as well
Maybe some old baseball caps or perfume samples if you have them for the adults in the villages
Your passport!
Cheers and have a safe trip |

I'm back...I took three thousand photos, found out you can get a sunburn in the rain and once again was sad to leave such a beautiful country. I've just started going through my photos but I've put up the first three on my website ( //www.mikeschneider.ca - under "Nueva Aldea").
Please check back for many many more throughout the week.

I've been to San Pedro Sula and La Cieba, but that was before I owned a digital camera or took photography seriously, and I missed a lot of opportunities. Indeed a beautiful country with TONS of photographic opportunity.
By the way, I also like the shots of the "Harvard" plane, even though we Americans regard those as "Texans". :) Love to watch 'em fly! |

When you have time I'd like to hear about your trip as well as look at some of the pics. I'm sure you have some interesting stories to tell. Most important thing is that you made it back safely, welcome home.

Hehe...maybe I should start a new thread. I posted below to say that I was back from Honduras. I guess I'll do that...I'll wait a few days until I have a few more photos to show and then post a new thread.
