I just kind of entered the transparncy because i had a pic to enter that met the challenge and was going thru Update button withdrawal.

I got a very decent score for what was (to me) a mediocre shot. Many comments suggesting this would be an improvement -

So I ask you the voters, if you voted on how would have score the above crop? Better, worse or the same?

Just trying to learn to develop my 'eye'.

I like the vertical crop better. IMO it's more dynamic. The shadow at the bottom anchors the image. The horizontal gives the feel of a leaf in the middle of nowhere (the branch blends with the background too much to act as a strong leading line.

Hi, I like the new crop better. Tend to agree with some of the comments that the foreground shadows distracts from where it makes the picture the most pretty ie. the red leaf. Would have liked a little more detail on the red leaf as well but overall a nice capture.

I didn't read the comments, but did vote. Honestly - I like the original better (voted 8). The reflection adds another layer of depth to the shot without being an overbearing element. JMVHO...

i like the top one better. I find that the stuff going on down the bottom of the 2nd crop to distract from the leaves under the water.

I like the crop on the new one better, but think the original is the better image. The problem with the new one for me is that the water comes out looking more like noise in the image - some ripples/waves would have helped perhaps. The pause I have to make to figure out the image and the water, in my mind hurts the image. The shadows in the original, which to me are a bit of a distraction, tell me that I am looking at leaves above and below the water. I don't get that from the new version.

Hope that is clearer than mud....

That said I gave you a 6 on the original.

I tend to agree with fixedintime. I like the horizontal crop better, but the quality of the photo is much better in the vertical version.

I prefer the new version. It focusses on the lovely colour of the leaves and is less cluttered.
