Can I be brutally frank?
Sorry but I don't find it at all attractive. The colours are dull, it gives me no impression of photography and shouldn't it be "freelance" without the space? The wavy lines seem to be superfluous and add nothing nor does the silhouette figure.
Sorry this is really damming but you did ask!
:)

ouch!
no for serious it's ok. I have gone through mabey 30 different looks and not found one I like yet. I am looking for something that is creative and shows off my style. I'm not your average photog, (though I don't post much on here). I think the siloute says alot about my style and the colors though they are not excatly what I was thinking of, I use a lot of earthy tones.
thanks for being honest |

Sorry, but it doesn't do much for me at all. The colours are too dark. It's almost sinister! |

Thank you for taking it in the way it was meant! I was really worried about posting such a damming critique but I didn't want to lie. Perhaps I should have softened the blow a bit!
Could you use something you have shot on the card? Brighter colours may attract prospective customers purely by making them pick up the card or even notice it. If you want to go with earthy colours then lose the black and make it more subtle.
Your name in bigger or a stronger font across the top rather than in a box perhaps?
:)

I wish I had a copy of sexton's business cards. lol don't we all though.
I want my business cards to stand out from the pack but I think I always have a way of taking that idea a little too far. can someone who is making their living post a copy of their card...do you even use cards at that point? I know all of the guys I have interned for don't...
this is almost becoming work... |

Like this better - looks classier!
Do you have any abstracts that might work ? If you are advertising yourself as a multi-purpose photographer you may not want to define yourself on your card as dealing with one particular aspect.

In two years have you changed that much???? MORE handsome???

Additionally to the problems Riponlady pointed out, is the rather haphazard placement of text. I know you didn't DO it haphazardly but after a lot of thought - I'm talking about how it looks.
It's not balanced, it's too close to the edge of the card and it's been aligned in a weird mix of ways.
Think of the composition of your card in the same way as the composition of an image... all the normal compositional rules - balance of various items (in both size and position), space, colours, contrast and clarity.

heck yeah more handsome! I cut my hair because I was getting to old to swing the hippie look. I also have lost over 50 pounds since then, that is what being a poor college student does to you, no money for junk food or fast food. not that I can complain!
lol...this is just fun

wow, I did something that looks very close to this. I used a more recent pic and it's a 3/4 height image of me holding a friends camera (it's also a d70).
that just crazy |

If you getting too old at 18 to have long hair -God help the rest of us!!!
:)
edit - I've just realised why I don't like your original idea - it looks very old fashioned! It reminds me of something from the 50's/60's particularly the sihouette. Perhaps you are going retro????

yeah I guess you call me retro. I personly have been called a "beatnick" (sp?) lately. I don't know what it is excatly that makes me get that, but I enjoy it...that is how I would best define myself anyway. |

yeah, that decribes me pretty well. I'm not into the bar thing, but I do go to jazz clubs on the weekends and am a part of a biweekly drum circle in dayton....
ohh and my love for coffee helps a little too. I spend more money in coffee than I do in gas...and I spend more time in coffee shops than I do at home.
life is good, I just can't complain

Just remember that your business card has to sell a vision of yourself that you want others to see and feel. Try to make the colors set your tone. A picture card isn't as important as the mood you set.
Brighten up colors and don't make a common beginner mistake of trying to use every piece of your card.... Use the white space to "sell" what you want to show most.
A little secret....if you've looked at a LOT of business cards, you'll notice one thing, the more money they charge, the smaller they print their name...lol |

I'd also get rid of the email address. You can buy a real URL and cheap mail hosting for practically nothing these days. Nothing screams amateur more than a hotmail or yahoo email addy.
