My dog meadow is in PhotoWow!'s weekly dog contest.

Click on her below and go give the little sweetheart a vote!

Voted... good luck Meadow!!! I am still so bummed that Peanut was beaten by an ugly, out-of-focus, paw-chopped-off, poorly-lit catastrophe of a picture...but I'm not bitter. No, not at all. =')

Well, I gave it a 10 because last week I learned what a sycophant was and now I are one. :)

Yes, when I got the email tonight I went to the site expecting to see you as a previous winner. I guess there's no way to see past results?

Actually, I think the whole thing is just a big marketing scheme to get traffic to their site. They give away their own product--one per week or so, and get how many "friends" of the entrants to visit? A LOT!

I guess it's clever and no real harm done. I still think they'd be better off running a truly anonymous photo contest.

Edit/Update: Whoa! I just went and checked and someone gave poor meadow a 1! Vote tampering! I demand an inquiry! ;)

There is utter crap on that site scoring 10's. Makes you appreciate this site. Well, ummmmm......

Just had a thought maybe the comp is rigged!

Neil's dog is cuter than mine, but you guys can also vote for Snoopy if you like.

He is #33482

He's got a bunch of 3's that mystify me.

I think idnic had her picture of Lexi on this one as well....the long haired wiener dog with the clown outfit on.

edit: spelling/grammer

I'm not sure the number for idnic's on the website but this is the picture that I saw over there and recognized:

I'd say they are equally cute!! I voted and Good luck to both of you and idnic too. :-)

Voted for you Denis! We are going to get a DPCer to win here. It doesn't matter which of us, but one of us is going to win! There's to many of us to be stopped! Deannda has her dog in there too.

I don't know who is casting all the low votes, but if you read the little disclaimer, it says that ones and other low votes may not be counted in the contest. So we may get a DPC-like "vote scrubber boost!"

In all fairness, all DPCers visiting should just vote through all the dogs fairly. Well, ok, you can give the DPC dogs a little boost ;)

You can vote on mine... Or at least look! 33510

I voted on Neil's and Jenesis's. I will look for Idnic's. What does Deannda's look like?

I'm Bitter, Peanut got the shaft and she was clearly the best. My son got 5th place. Oh well, try again next year!

Got you covered Courtenay! You haven't made the top 10 yet, and it's a marvelous photo, so get going DPCers! Denis and I are virtually "neck and neck", but there's a few interlopers ahead of us! (An interloper is defined here as anyone besides a DPCer).

Deannda posted hers in a separate thread. If she reads this she should post her info here as well.

Small bump for anyone who hasn't voted. The DPCer's are falling back in rank a bit...

See the member IDs below. There's a few of us who would appreciate a vote.

Oh thank you thank you thank you to those who noticed my shot out there and those who have voted. I actually have 2 on PhotoWow this week one baby and one dog. They are #33484 and #33485. I have voted on the others mentioned in this thread. Great shots DPC!! :)

One day left. Contest ends tomorrow (Tues) at 1:00 PM PST.

Please go and cast a vote (not asking for sham votes--just your time in voting honestly!)
11/07/2005 11:40:49 AM · #19
voted - you got mine
11/07/2005 07:58:39 PM · #20
Thanks everyone. Last bump, as it ends tomorrow afternoon. And remember, there are at least four DPCers in this--not just my dog. So please vote the set or look for them!

11/07/2005 08:19:32 PM · #21
Voted. I think I got them all.
11/07/2005 11:13:07 PM · #22
Thanks. I am ready to concede ;)

I just dropped back into fourth! Look at what moved into third. And the interesting distributions: Look at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries. All 10s, no much below it, whereas the others in the top 10 are well distributed.

Seems to me there's a strategy for this we missed. ;)

Ok, everyone go and look what won. That awful photo that pushed me out of third actually ended up winning. It's not even a cute picture IMHO.

I don't mean to sound like I'm sour about losing, I wouldn't care if it were fair. And it might be. But I suspect vote tampering. Based on their note on the site about voting, I'll tell you exactly how to do it. Vote, clear your cookies, vote, clear your cookies, vote, etc. I didn't try that, but come on, they tell you that it remembers that you voted based on the cookies!

You tell me, look at that photo--how did it win? The two that were originally in front of me had a .75 point lead. And in the last day, he passed me, and them.

What do you think?

It's out of focus and the white balance is off. Lot's of friends and family I guess or people voting more than once. I'm not too sure that their system catches that even though there is a statement to that effect in the rules.

And the dog isn't cute (at least it's hard to see that in the shot).

Actually, I sent them a note telling them to check the votes. I am mainly suspicious on how fast this guy rose up the chain. I am willing to bet that a large percentage of votes came in from the same IP. That should be easy for them to check anyway.

In any case, I don't recommend anyone waste their time on this contest. Not that you can't win, but it's not a good photo or a cute dog you need to win, it's friends, and possibly no ethics or conscience ;)
