I have done it several ways...
First, make sure you are in the right color space / mode.
RGB, 8 bits/channel and sRGB color space. The one here that you will encounter is the RGB one. It cam be lots of things, but most will be altered when viewed on the web.
I edit, usually flatten, and then resize to 800x or 640x (on the long side, be it portrait or horizontal). Then do a USM to it (with my rebel 80%, .9, 1 or thereabouts. My fuji was completely different). You need to sharpen for web use, and it needs to be the last step.
Then either Save As and pick a compression above 8 that gives you the file size you want. If you have to go below 8, then try making the pics smaller or adjuting your USM as that can have a big effect on file size.
Save For Web then click on teh arrow to the right of the drop down box 'Settings' and choose 'Optiize to file size'. For DPC challenges enter 147k. Click Save and that does it. |
