I have a gut feeling, but then again I think that's the Taco Bell I just ate. Anyhow, as it stands now, I'll at least finish in the top 100.

My prediction is that I'll probably do better than my Transparency entry, but not by much... LOL

I'm like you lepidus, I just HOPE I finish in the top 100! :-)

I'm shooting for the top 100 too! I couldn't resist the challenge, but had to rush so my boy could go trick or treating.

No pumpkin entry for me this time :( Just been too busy at work (which is where I'm at right now). Sheesh!

I'm fairly certain that I just won the brown. I skimmed the other entries, and mine blows. This ought to be humbling...

Great work all you pumpkin heads, I'll be voting this challenge very high.

I'm SOOOOO glad I chose not to enter this one. Hoo boy... I just dodged some major embarrassment! Having seen what's possible, I'm not surprised that there are some really great entries in this one.

Will admit though, I am only voting on traditional Jack-O-Lanterns. Why? Took my son to a local pumpkin carving contest, and we waltz through at record speed. Saw everything under the son carved on pumpkins. He being only five, walked up to one of the carvers, or what ever you call them, and said, "How come you do not know how to make a Jack-O-Lantern." The carver said, "that is old fashioned."

My son said, well you look old to me. ROFL..... Everyone around laughed, I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes.

Haloween belongs to the children.

I loved this challenge. It was so narrowly defined that it made it really easy to vote. Neat subject too. All of you carvers did an awesome job. Now I wish I had decided to carve a pumpkin, too, but of course it would have been two triangles for the eyes, one for the mouth, and a wide grinning mouth. Not very good at carving.

I didn't partake in this challenge but there are some great carvings.
I that is missing is the DPC logo - i am really suprised.
Great work everyone and all the best on the scores.

I did an image search of pumpkin carvings too, didn't see that one, very cool! But that carver doesn't seem to take full advantage of the wonder of pumpkins - they are hollow and partly transparent, offering cool lighting options. Check out this sight to see some more humbling carvings: //jack-o-patterns.com/Carvings-2003.ivnu

Nobody is really posting scores. Is this a high scoring challenge or low? I'm sitting 6.14 right now, but that could be average for all I know.
11/01/2005 02:03:03 PM · #24
I suspect it's pretty top-heavy. I think my 5.5ish image will finish well below middle of the pack. Certainly, I'm voting very leniently on this one; I'm voting the pumpkins mostly, then adding/subtracting a point or so for especially good or especially awful photography.
