Last week I took a bunch of pictures of my girlfriend and have just started to go through them all now. I want to put together a nice little portfolio for her, but need some advice. I have attached below just a few small samples of the over 200 that I snapped. Basically what I am looking for is just a little advice on what you would do differently or what you would do to make the pictures stand out a bit more.
I just randomly picked these 3 out of the bunch, but I would really like to see some diffrent ways that I can take these pics and possibly apply some of your techniques to some of the others.
Thanks in advance.

Well, from one woman's point of view - one of the things is that she seems very self concious about keeping her breasts covered. I would say either be more at ease, show whatever is natural for the shot or wear something for coverning up even if it's a drape or something. As it is, I think she looks uncomfortable.
I like the first portrait the best. Almost has a romantic, other era look to the processing. I'm not a fan of the really heavy eyeliner, though.
I'm not a pro, but these are just my opinions. |

agree with jpochard, I even imagine the first with a nice soft focus to add some more romantic feel. good colors and setups overall.

Yeah, I actually agree and it is sort of my fault in regards to the covering up. There are lots of her being much more "natural" however it was sort of my decision not to post the others online.
Thanks for the comments.

1. On this photo, I would "fix" her bottom lip, the lipstick has smeared and come down below her lip line and has a shiney area. I would remove the large light in her right eye, making it similar to her other eye, run usm on her eyes to sharpen then slightly and clone out a touch of the makeup on her bottom lids.
2. Has harsh shadows and her legs are in poses that are uncomplimentary to her body and make deep wrinkles where her leg meets her bottom.
3. the harsh shadows again, and her head is a touch too far back. I'm have her lift it a touch.
You need to use a softbox to minimize the shadows.
Hope this helps

The first shot is great. The other two are a little strange. I mean, it's not every day that I walk around my house with wings on and posing artfully, which is what it looks like she is doing. The backgrounds are really really bad. Sorry, it's just my opinion. I'd suggest:
1. Get a backdrop.
2. Position her several feet in front of it and use DOF to blur it.
3. Alternately, use lighting to create a dark background.
The first shot is so awesome, I'm kinda surprised about the other two. |
