azoychka, if the owners/site council make a change to existing editing rules, we would all need to know that, correct?
If they simply change it on the rules page, I bet AT LEAST 95% of us would NOT know about it. We would all want to be warned about the changes, even though we could spend our online time constantly reading and comparing the rules, after all, they WERE posted.
Same goes for this. It is worthwhile knowing why a photo was DQ'ed, and nobody has enough time to constantly scan every part of this website in an effort to catch worthwhile information.
We like - perhaps even NEED - to have it presented to us in an easier manner. This is just part of it, and I have NO idea why you've got your knickers in such a twist over this. |

Learning about photography is what is important, not what is or is not dq'ed here. The rules are pretty straight forward. My advice would be to keep all your photos processing as simple as possible and that will take care of dq's...

my advice would be to shut down the forums. there's obviously no need for them. just take pictures, show them. no need for unintelligent discourse and drivel. |

Actually knowing what and why something is DQ'd from a challenge is paramount to a site where the challenge is the reason we're here to begin with.
...le sigh...

If that is what is important here, how about leaving the forums alone for a while, and use your words in a more helpful manner by making some comments on the photos on the site instead. I'm sure everyone here would learn more about photography if you got that comments made count on par with your forums post made count :D |

At 400 forum posts and 34 comments made, most on your own shots, I'd say she's right.
Go use all that expendable typing on pictures since that's what we're ALL here for. (except MadMordegon & Olyuzi - they're here to rant)

Four of your last 9 posts were on your own images. 12 of 34 on bucket's photos. So you've wasted a whole 13 comments on the entire rest of the site? WOW! Thanks!

LOL
Follow along.
You said "learning about photography is what is important, not dqs"
Elli said ~ "so go help us learn and comment on some pictures"
I agree - I said ~ "yes, you talk a lot in forums, don't contribute to the photography, which is what is important." (In essense agreeing with you about the nature of the site.
You said "look at your own comments" so I did - I have posted 600 times the comments on photos you have, thus contributing to the learning I would hope.
Follow along.

The motive is to get more views? What do more views accomplish? |
We're here to learn and compete for virtual ribbons. Showing what NOT to do is an important part of learning, and the only "benefit" of a virtual ribbon or high placement is the recognition you receive for a job well done. The more people see your work, the more recognition you get. Public announcements also discourage others from making the same mistake. You can't please everyone, of course, so there is the potential for upsetting a small minority (a minority of one apparently).

Showing 'what not to do' is not an important part of learning....there is no 'not'......learning about photography and yourself is paramount...........ribbons are folly.......they do not reflect a job well done, as you put it. Photography 'maybe' is more than a job. I am undecided on that... You give me doubt....
