i feel you are in the minority on this. This thread, like most re-calcuation threads, will fall off the page today while the winners remain on the front page for a full week. I don't think the challenge has been overshadowed.

Quite agree! It is useful to know if a entry is DQd as it could affect your own placing and also to know why so you avoid it yourself. Before the thumbnail was posted I went straight to the results to see which one it was. Hardly matters if a thumbnail is posted in the thread.

Why should it not be allowed in this way? We don't complain about thumbnails of other entries in threads.

If it deteriorates, we'll assess the usefulness of letting this thread carry on.

maybe we should be askin this guy for panorama stitching advice.. I bet nobody would notice if it wasn't in the picture description.

Getting in before it is locked to say I think this picture is fantastic, beautifully done and if it hadn't been in a challenge we would all be raving over it. So well done on an excellent photo, the dq is nothing to worry about and I expect to see tremendous future entries from you.

I'm just wondering why it wasn't caught to begin with? It says in the photog's comments it's 7 pictures stithced.
Such a shame, it's a nice photo....stitched or not.

YOu know I dont get to read all the threads, this is helpful to me. To be able to even know that something was DQ'd and what for. I would think it helps not hurts everyone's knowledge of the contest. The DQ is significant, it lets everyone know what not to do!

It is interesting to post it in a public form, instead of, somewhere on the site, where you can go to see such things, if you wish.. It is appropriate near Halloween that something that smacks of a witch hunt mentality should be so accepted.

It's been done like this for months now...or perhaps we were hunting Easter bunnies or insert-your-favorite-holiday-icon-here when DQ's happened near holidays previously.

I think you should let it go, friend. It's not worth your blood pressure.

It is not something to be let go of. I do not hold it. It is not mine. I am only questioning it. Is that threatening to you or someone? Is this a site we take for granted? That questioning is not allowed?

it's not the questioning. it's the fact that you won't accept the answer that has been given. nothing's going on here. no agendas, no controversy. however, if you want to stand out on the street corner and yell loudly enough, sooner or later, you'll get the attention you seem to crave...

I am a little unclear what answer I have been given? You seem a tad bit sensitive 'skiprow'? I can't remember saying 'something was going on'? I do not understand the need to post a dq in a forum which encourages discussion. Why so front page?

To announce challenge results that were changed.

"It's not me, it's everyone else."

Because nobody can see those comments until the voting is over, or if is a DQ is requested.

DQs are posted at the end of the challenge results. They're public record, where anybody can go to see such things. Skiprow merely posted a thumbnail for the convenience of those who want to see it (feel free to take the long route if you like). Odd that you would equate this to a "witch hunt" when I've only seen praise for the photo.

Incidentally, public announcements that the challenge results have changed are nothing new. I think you're the first person to question them, though.

Praise for the photo does not change the meaning of this practice. Why post on the front page what is already posted at the end of all challenges?

Results Recalculated

REcalculated. The DQ didn't come during the challenge. If people didn't look at the DQ list everyday, they would miss it.

If dq's are important to some people I am sure they would be checking every day...

Uh, yea, for what earthly reason does it matter?

You just want to start something. You can't seriously believe that someone who placed 21st wouldn't be happy to know they placed top 20, but would be anal enough to check EVERYday for DQs on the top 19.

I seriously don't believe you think this is a problem. These have been posted for ribbon winners - why didn't you complain then?
